Default Subtle, but obvious: fiixed my sound problem

Problem: Sound was echo/stuttering all the time, chopping along with framerate. Framerate looked almost OK, but sound chopping made game unplayable.

System: 1.7G, 512Meg RAM, Audigy Gamer, Radeon 9500, ASUS P4s533 MB

Tried everything. Video drivers, sound drivers, tweaker, Alt-Tab. I even uninstaled from D: harddrive and reinstalled on C: drive.

I tried three steps in the same iteration that solved it, don't know which one it was:

1. Installed latest motherboard AGP driver. Hadn't thought of that one until the recent "Fixes" post.

2. Installed latest SIS IDE driver for motherboard.

3. Installed Directx 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902) from Microsoft website. This should have been the one on the game CD, but I installed it anyway to get a fresh install.

Voila, no more problems, game runs smooth as silk and 1024x with high characters, med lighting, med shadows. I could probably run it smoothly with even higher settings. Haven't tried yet.

Hope this helps!!
