Added a couple of new things to the list recently, like the crashing problem on Radeon 9600s and a community-made fix for 3D sound.

About the GeForce MX video cards, I know that their not supported and all, but when the guy said "upgrade your video card" did he mean go buy a new one? or update video drivers/go do something else wierd. I don't know much about pixel shading. And that forum thread is "closed".

My games freezes at the same point everytime I try to play it.... early on level 2... I have patch 1.1 installed and I turned off AGP write and fast write with no luck. I have a 9600XT card. I get a
"Victoria Error-access violation" when I finally end the program. I am not sure if this is a video problem or something else entirely. Any Ideas?

    Thumbs down

Gotta give Deus Ex:IW the thumbs down for the cost of this game even with a 10% off coupon from bestbuy it doesn't work right. I installed the game no problems then installed the 1.1 patch no problem there, started the game and first it comes up with a "loading" screen that does nothing then 15 seconds later the monitor blinks black and it then comes back to the same loading screen but this time it says v1.1 and loads. Any clues to as why??? it does that. Next the fixes in the v.1.1 patch do not seem to work. Tab key does not drop item it just cycles through as it did before the patch. At the exit from tarus in seattle the smae type of load screen appears as mentioned above but the system totaly hangs up and I have to hit the "reset" button on my computer and reboot the entire system. Built this comp to play the newest and upcoming games and am sorry but this game is going back for a refund or store credit. Eidos LOK worked fine but sorry this much hassle aint worth it.

I loaded the latest driver from ATI and my game runs better. It still locks up at times and wont load games sometimes, goes to black screen and I have to reboot to get out of it.

Okay, this might work for you guys... I was poking around in the demo's .ini file and found something interesting. DX:IW is initializing two seperate audio subsystems which may be the cause for performance degredation... Hehe, its the XBox audio subsystem at that.... Go into the [Engine.Engine] group and find this line, put a comma at the beginning of it like so.... The openAL audio system should be the only one enabled.

    ;AudioDevice__x=XBoxAudio.XboxAudioSubsystem

    where's that?

what about the problem in the beginning of the game, you can't save or leave the area (because it autosaves then)....

Can only play with even half decent frame rates at 800x600 Medium Details.

    1280x1024 totally impossible.

    GeForce Ti4200
    P4 2.53Gig

That sys should be able to cope well enough with better.

No probs with Unreal2 which was last FPS i installed.

Some AV software scans the whole install directory on each game and level load. This has bee reported by several other poeple and leads to long load times like 1-3minutes delay before load status bar starts to move.

To fix simply exclude the install folder in your av software settings.

I finally got around to getting the game at Best Buy a few days ago for $19.99 USA.

I have updated it to 1.2 with the official patch. I have yet to attempt any user mods.

    I have TWO issues:

    1. The Windows Cursor (hourglass icon) continues to show during loading sequences....even up to getting to the game menu. I'm using a MS Explorer Laser Mouse and default drivers.
(I DO have a Logitech Wingman Gamepad hooked up but not using it. It's USB.)

    2. During ALL the loading sequences my screen drops to the Windows Desktop but is NOT a CTD. The drop to Desktop lasts several seconds. I AM running my Desktop at 1280x1024 and the game at 1024x768....if that's the cause. (I'll tinker with this later.)

Otherwise, I'm using the latest official CAT drivers but mostly use Omega's drivers when they're out. I'll likely revert to his latest ones in the next couple of days after testing these latest offiical drivers.

My rig is in my sig.....

EDIT: Well, it would be if Signatures was on.

    Here goes:
    Windows XP Home SP2 RC2
    768 MB PC 2100 RAM
    Radeon 9600 Pro 128
    SB Live! MP+ (Legacy)

Those with nForce 3 mobos may want to try this if experiencing any audio problems.

Might want to skip nVidia's latest drivers and check out Realtek's.
After installing Realtek's drivers the problem was solved.

    Realtek's drivers

    My official problem:
    The game runs perfectly expect:

Sometimes when I load or start a new game there is static in the sound. Solution? Reload, sometimes I have to reload the game twice.

The Deus Ex menu doesn't have static in the sound nor do the movies. It's just in game.

    Is there a permament solution?

BTW: I use the NForce 3 150 built in soundcard. I got rid of my SBLive as the NForce sound sounds way better.

    Reload game = reload savegame.
It's the only game which has this problem.

    Default Stupid video

My only problem(The game runs beautifully now, didnt before my hard drive took a dive a couple months ago) is that the intro/ending movies stutter, even after getting the RAD video tools. Strange thing? They never did before, and I don't know what's different.

I installed the patch but I still experience slow performance. Computer is pretty much upgraded but the game still only "runs" faster in resolution 640X480.

Does anyone have a fix for the 'random crashes' some people experience - ie - me?

    Default sound

Uh, yeah, hey, shortly after loadscreens, conversations, or those little "newbie help tips" my sound will die and wont come back. Normally, i would just save and quit, but if i get anything on my infolink dealy it doesnt play the sound, so the infolink screen doesnt close, which keeps me from exiting to the menu. So um, any solutions?

firstly i cannot install the 1.1 or 1.2 patch. when i tried to i got this error:

After installing Realtek's drivers the problem was solved.

    Realtek's drivers

    My official problem:

    The game runs perfectly expect:

Sometimes when I load or start a new game there is static in the sound. Solution? Reload, sometimes I have to reload the game twice.

The Deus Ex menu doesn't have static in the sound nor do the movies. It's just in game.

    Is there a permament solution?

BTW: I use the NForce 3 150 built in soundcard. I got rid of my SBLive as the NForce sound sounds way better.

    Reload game = reload savegame.
It's the only game which has this problem.
does this fix the problem on all nForce onboard sound, or just nForce 3 onboard sound?

    my specs:

    AMD Athlon XP3200+ (2.2GHz)
    Asus A7N8X-X mobo

    1GB Corsair PC3200 RAM
    Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB)

my sound sometimes cuts out and then comes back in, in addition to the static in the sound problem above ^
i don't know why this is happening?

    edit ->

the download link that u gave is for AC'97 Audio. how can it be drivers for nForce onboard audio? are u sure that these drivers will work for nForce onboard audio. and will it eliminate the static in the sound?

Would Vista make any difference on this game I mean Vista is just an upgraded version of XP.

    Default An issue

Deus Ex is probably one of my all time favorite series. I was disappointed to let Invisible War go for Xbox when I got rid of my system, so I was thrilled about picking up the PC one and now I'm not sure if I regret it. At first, the game loaded up just fine, but after patching the game I began to run into the "insert original disc, not a backup" error. Weird thing is that this wouldn't be constant, there would be sometimes to where it wouldn't even be able to read the disc and others where it would actually boot up.

I guess I'm sorta confused as to how a game can work just fine after being installed, yet after being patched it doesn't want to acknowledge that I have the official CD in there. What's worse is the .exe file provided in the starting topic post presented me with a new error message, the "Wrong disc, please insert the original disc into your cd/dvd drive". I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it and I refuse to mess with my registry. Is there anything I can do? Or am I stuck out of being able to play this fantastic game again?

I'm not too sure if it's possible that the disc got corrupted, or if something happened to it. I bought it used on amazon, so I'm not too sure what I should think. Help!

Well simple answer the game worked before the patch so take the patch out. Maybe you don't have enough ram however.
