Default How will the demo translate to the final game?

Well, I must say, I am very disappointed w/ this "demo." Seems to me a lot of developers just throw out these demos w/o even really testing it (Raven*, Splinter Cell..). The DX:IW demo is no exception.

Even though I surpass most of the recommended system requirements, I still have a GeForce 2 (hey, it's still a great card - Max Payne 2, Splinter Cell look fabulous) and thus, learned after d/l'ing a 230 Meg demo that it will not work. No website, d/l link, or even the off'l website had this warning (hell, last I checked earlier eidos didn't even HAVE the demo link up, let alone demo FAQs!!!!!!).

So my question, after my rants (sorry, but after having d/l'ed it three times - Download Accelerator corruptions, AND the fact that this demo is completely useless, I am very pissed ) is this: Will the final release of this game have the very same limitations (no GeForce 2 MX support)??

Rolleyes in response to specs

my system runs within all specs except for the video card issue. Im running my system with a g4mx420. Not the highest or best card, but max2, gothic2, kotor, they all run great on this thing. Now, the game ive been droolin over for the past 2 years, isnt going to support mx cards? wtf? Was it extra trouble to support the mx series? We have only waited how long for this game? Seems eidos is in cahoots with some video card manufacturers to make sure you are buyin the top of the line cards to play their games. For whatever reason, i guess im just going to have to be dissappointed, and not play dx2. What a joke.

Sorry you bought that MX. That card sucks. I used to have one.

YOu can get a card to run it under $100. and you can sell you MX on ebay (it will go fast) for around $45. So the card wil only cost ya a little more than $50.

Anyway, I don't much care if the story elements are indeed very good, because if a game makes you want to kick your computer down the stairs every five minutes, it's still going to be bad. The "less important" elements, as the silly optimists call them, may not make the game stand out much, but they're there, with the player, constantly. If they suck, like they do in "DX:IW", the player gets frustrated, and makes an assasination attemp on Warren Spector.

Sounds like a good mod/fan map.

Well, it's actually WAS too difficult (maybe imposible) to make a support for MX cards since the dynamic shadows which need pixel shaders are essential to the gameplay and cannot be turned off.

im so ing sick and tired about people complaining about the game cos they bought crappy hardware. so u expect that everything should b based on old or ty hardware wth loads of limitations, and leave us who have actually taken the time to buy some good stuff with a game that looks like ? geez, thats just great.

if it were to b like that, then there would b no developement atall for the pc gamer market. then wed all b WITHOUT a graphix card playing pong.

people with good pc's should not pay the price for ignorance, and stupid purchases of others.

truth be told, and I know this is kind of harsh..their's NO reason why anybody should buy anything with "mx" in it. It has no pixel or vertex shading support. Two years ago, that was fine..but these days you NEED Pixel shading support to at least some degree.

Sure KOTOR,MP2 etc. may run fine.. but what does that have to do with Deus Ex? Nothing. Truth be told again, Unless you happen to be able to afford a 299-399 video card you probably won't like the results you get. At the very LEAST give yourself a fighting chance to play the game and pick up a video card with PS1.1-1.4 and VS support.

Dude, ur about as mature as ur name implies. An orio(oreo for some others). I just bought the card not 4 months ago and some of us dont have the opportunity to buy $300 cards, so bite me. So they dont support mx cards....did i say it was the end of the world? Be glad u got a nice card and enjoy the game, when i can afford one, ill buy one too, but in the meantime, keep ur stupid comments to urself. (and by the way, im glad u got a good pc, i do too, just not a vid card u ass.)

The crappy performing demo could possibly not translate into a crappy game but who knows.

They seem to be confident the game is good at Ionstorm and this reviewer did seem not to be convinced the game will be a total failure

We will know soon enough whether the game is a suckfest or not

I hope they didnt ruin this great francise. The main characters sure dont look cool anymore

I dont think it will, Deus Ex 3 was "announced" today. I say announced because all that was said was that its in pre-production. I really like this game, think it will be best xbox game this year.

ristly, u dont know bout the meaning of my nick. i didnt think of that word (didnt even know it was sometihng like that, and the forst people who called me orio was english and american)

its derived from my old nick, plus loads of other stuff that influenced me. i mean if i had a n3Wb nick, then it would b different, but thatone is withuot an apparant meaning for thos who done know the story behind it. (thats the whole idea)

and u gan get cheap cards that dont completely suck.

i had that outrage cos so many people complain about not being able to use old, obsolete hardware.
i know its called gf4 and is being produced, but atleast check out what ur buying before doing it.

and if uve got such a great machine, then it would seem u know ur stuff, wich again, should enable u to not choose a gf4 mx, as everyone with a LITTLE insight would know is crap.

also i guess u missed my point, i said it to the whiners.

i rest my case, and will not reply to this lame crap later.

This is pathetic. I agree w/ naomha. Not everyone can freakin' afford to keep buying new video cards every month, like you Orio. Many of us here are college students (like me), teenagers (whose parents can't afford to keep buying, buying every month), and overall middle class gamers, who still wouldn't be able to constantly, constantly upgrade.

For USFbullsFan20, FYI, in my case, I've had this card for about a year and a half or more and never had a problem w/ it, nor saw a reason to upgrade. Why? Because, hell, Max Payne 2 and Call of Duty still perform OUTSTANDING w/ incredible LOOKING results.

Back to Orio:

So are you implying that you yourself are ignorant? Because from where I'm sitting it sure as hell sounds like you are an ignorant individual. I don't have a bad PC, and I doubt naomha has one either. As a matter of fact I have a VERY nice PC, just one w/ a video card in which the lazy developers didn't think it necessary to include support for MANY of us who still have GeForce MX series cards.

And you know what? If you don't like people like us, why did you even volunteer w/ your trash talking? Naomha and I were trying to get help and understand the situation. And you know what else? There's going to be MANY, MANY more gamers out there who will d/l this demo. There will be far more like us out there w/ the MX series and BUY the game and not know about the lack of MX support. So what are you going to do then? Just accept the fact that the developers were lazy and because of their idleness, we are FORCED to pay an additional $100 for a new video card.
Well, either that, or do what I'm doing: just avoid the game at all costs!
