Default New Mission - "XenSoc"

You can download a new StarTopia mission from here, about the Xenological and Xenobiological Society.

Any comments or problems, please tell me. I would be interested to know if people find it too easy or too hard, so I can adjust the balance in later games. What do people like in StarTopia missions in general?

I will send it to StarPost in a week or so, but my last mission (still available here) has yet to appear there.

Wow! Such speed! I'm impressed at how quickly you churn 'em out. Good going!

Hi, I downloaded the XenSoc mission and tried to play it earlier today, but Arona never shows up and you don't start with a labratory, so I was just kinda stuck there. Can you help me out? Rhune

Rhune

What SHOULD happen is after you place the first seven rooms from the hard crates you get a couple of messages from VAL, and after reading them, Arona turns up pretty much straightaway.

Last night I checked this works okay on my version and it does. I guess it is possible the zip file missed something but I cannot see anything obvious after downloading it, but I will play it from there to check.

Ahhh.. that would be the problem. I don't usually unpack my recharger. I normally buy a lab off the bat from Arona and throw it on so that I can research power boosters quickly. The droids never run out of juice by the time it's researched and I just throw down a new one. Ok, I'll just unpack the recharger then and repack it after it's built.

I have modified the mission, so now you can keep your recharger packed. The VAL comments and Arona will start a certain time after your collector is built.

However... Why do you not build your rechargers anyway, and repack once the lab is ready for them?

Because the droids never need it/use it before I can buy a lab and research it normally so there's no real reason to unpack it in the first place. Plus it conserves energy. Since you don't start with power boosters it's just one less room taking up energy.
