Spriggan?

Hi kids... well i just watched the anime 'Spriggan' and to be honest i'm baffled?

I don't really want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but i wouldn't mind some answers from people who have read the manga comics because like Akira this 1 has been going for like 10 years... Anyone help me?

Questions are as follows:

I gather that Noahs ark was left behind by aliens on earth millions of years before humans but why leave such advanced technology at all? Why didn't they simply destroy it

When Noahs ark is activated what happens to the rest of the world? I see its covered in snow but i find this confusing as it triggered global warming, not another ice age?

Why was that Colonel kid?! Zero character development on him!

Why is the kid suffering from a serious case of megalomania and what happens to him when he's absorbed?

Well, I've only seen the movie once like a year ago and it was in Japanese and "fan" subbed so I don't know how acurate my opinion is but I'll try and answer.

The purpose of the ark was to effect evolution. If they deemed it fit they could wipe out all life and start from scratch.

The ark can effect the enviroment for all of earth in order to guide evolution in the course it want's. I think that one dude was going to trigger another Ice age but ofcourse such a dramatic shift in weather will happen slowly over the course of countless years.

Okay, memory is very sketchy on this part but I think that guy was a child genius that had had countless experiments done to him to make him the ultimate hi-tech weapon. Again, my memory isn't the greatest but I think it was something along those lines.

He's so smart that he thinks he is a god. As such he wants the ark to create the world as he sees fit. On the last thing I don't even remember that part...
