So, it's only for real announcements, and can only be used by the forum moderators?

If that's true, then that's cool. Now we won't have to go searching for news all over the web about the next games.

Yes, the Official Announcements section for each game will only be accessible to Eidos Employees, Moderators (or Crystal Dynamics and Core Design employees, I guess) with Official Information to share...for example, the Eidos producer for any future LOK games will use that space to let us know What's Up.

Yeah, the more I use it, the more I'm beginning to like it. blinc was right wherever it was he said so, it is kind of more 21st century-ish...
