After weeks of being attacked by the red ghost, eventally managed to get the book, happy to give out hints, I am now stuck at the x-ray machine with the Obscura painting. Nothing happens. I have the Respirator and think I have to put the painting into the machine. Any tips please. Thanks

The Prima guide is wrong. This was removed from the game. Just keep going.

I got stuck for weeks on the same exact thing...stupid strategy guide! I got stuck more using the strategy guide than not using it. I suggest you don't use it unless you absolutely can't go any further. And they're right, you can't use the X-ray machine. Just get out of there to start the next cut-scene. Imagine how angry I was being stuck on that for weeks, not being able to play, and then finding out they changed it and you don't have to use the X-ray! Grr!

That is supposedly an X-ray machine in the same room you get the gas mask from...but in the strategy guide it tells you to stick the painting in the X-ray machine, and in the game I guess they changed that so you can't stick it in there. They wrote the guide and then changed a lot of stuff in the game that renders the guide useless.

At the risk of sounding mean, why don't you just search for you answer instead of posting...... the same problem with the xray machine and the strategy guide is in about 50 other threads, so just look for it instead of posting a new one. But I guess its too late for that now.

I wish they had kept that part in the game. It would have been cool to see a piece of the Sanglyph. I kinda got stuck at that part too. Damn strategy guide!!!
