Default I'm new!

Well actually that's not entirely true, I used to post on this forum two or three years ago. But I don't recognize any of the people here so for all intents nd purposes I'm new! I was inspired to return by the new Tomb Raider game, and all the controversy that has srpung up around it, I thought it would be great fun here at the forums. Anyways, here is my opinion on the two big topics that I have seen people talking about on the forum.

The Game: When I first started playing the game I HATED it. It didn't feel like Tomb Raider at all, but once I got accustomed to using the analog sticks and the new feel to everything it started to get more familiar and as of now I am really, really enjoying it (I just got to the Hall of Seasons). That's not to say I don't have issues with it, I really wish her run was a bit faster, that she moved relative to the character and not the position on the screen, it makes it hard (but not impossible, once you get the hang of it) to do a string of backflips. Where are my double pistols? I know from looking at screenshots etc that she'll get them eventually, but I've been playing for quite a while and I WANT THEM NOW. What else, I think it could have been more polished, I could live without all the graphical glitches, control lag etc. Hmm, I think that's it, all in all, I LOVE IT!

The developer switch: I have two positions on the whole switching of developer issue. I do think that it was unethical since in my opinion a lot of the issues with the game could have been fixed if the game hadn't been pushed out early, which was undoubtedly Eidos' doing, not Core's. Also, I don't think that the game was to blame for the poor box office performance of the new movie. That has more to do with the movie's release issues, like the fact that it wasn't playing in Regal theaters (the largest theater chain in the states) and that it was the last of the big summer movies to be released so people had already seen a few movies and weren't interested in seeing another. So I definately think it was unfair for Paramount to blame it on the game. However, I do think that there is a good chance that the Crystal Dynamics version will be highly successful. If you look at the past few year's the highest rated Tomb Raider game (not that I give reviews much credit when it comes to Tomb Raider games, it's a popular whipping boy for reviewers) was the Ubi Soft developed Tomb Raider: The Prophecy for Game Boy Advance. I also really liked that game, it felt like I a handheld version of the original Tomb Raider, aside from a few gripes, like my hatred of password saves (I always lose the password) it was really really good. I think in the long run the Tomb Raider series could benefit from having a new developer simply because they will approach it differently and add alot of innovative ideas and concepts to the mix.

Well I guess that's all I have to say, I look forward to posting here in the future.

Welcome!

Hope you know the rules that after you first post you must buy drinks for all existing members (2 drinks for senior member).

Dual guns are not in the game. They were when the manual was made so there are screenshots of it. But they left it out. Unless you use cheats, you can't get them.

Default WHAT?

No dual guns? Excuse me while I go find a corner to die in! But they're on the cover, and in nearly every screenshot that shows her with guns drawn. (as well as the cover of the game). Stupid people! She's not Lara Croft without dual guns... And I'm not new... I'm just different, I'd still be using my old account if I could remember what e-mail I signed up with. So no drinks for you!

I thought the dual guns where in the game, I've read that you can buy them at the pawn shop in the parissian ghetto.

Welcome back Dani_lover, hope you'll enjoy the game as much as I did!
