Sys_error_d3d_create_device

I'm having the same problem as some people in this forum, I've read all the post I could find on this subject and none of them have worked for me. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game at least 10 times, still same problem!

When I get this error I try to go into settings on the game but I don't have the tabs for video etc... I only have General, Sound, Mouse, Keyboard? As I said unistalling it and reinstalling isn't a opition for me as it doesn't help!

Please someone help me TY

I had the same problem when i first loaded the game. Mine was a direct draw problem. Try testing the direct draw feature in dxdiag. it was my fault thou i downloaded new drivers for my getforce 4 and it blew it up.

K so how would I do this lol Test the direct draw? So you think it might be my direct x 9.0 causing the problem? Pamela

K never mind I figured out how to test direct draw and it works fine so that's not my problem

This indicates that the graphic chip is too old and the driver of that graphic chip doesn't support DirectX9. Sorry.

wow and this computer isn't even a year old so no way to fix this huh? Guess I will have to take it back and get it for playstation 2 although it's so much nicer to play it on the PC like we did the other tombraiders. Thanks everyone for trying to help me out!

Ah wait before you go throwing out your PC why not upgrade your video card? you don't need a power house 256mg one to run the game. I have a getforce 4 ti 4200 i bought for $142 and it runs great.

First try to find new drivers for the graphic chip and see if that helps. It is worth a try.

How handy are you? it's not a huge job. First question i would ask is do you know if you have on board video? What that means is the video is attached to the motherboard and not a seperate card. I do this kind of thing for a living so for me it's a 5-10 minuet job. How comfortable are you opening the case to your PC? Most CompUSA's will install the card for you if you buy it from them. If you feel safer that way.
Usualy it's just a screwdriver, then remove your old card and put the new one in kind of deal. When you boot up use the install disks that came with the card and your good to go.

It's a sis 650 video? i believe that is an onboard card. I'll lok it up to see if there are drivers that support direct x9
