Where are the power ups?

I'm in Renee's pawnshop and he's dead to the world. I've got the code, did the timed thing but Lara won't sprint so she burns up when she gets to the sewer pipe. I tried leaving the shop before the timed thing and trying to just run down the street and she still won't sprint so it's hopeless. I'm guessing I need more upgrades but I don't know where to get them. Can anyone help?
BTW...I hate the power ups because they cause situations like this. If you don't have enough, you're sunk!! I hope Core or Eidos are reading these threads.

dont need no power ups, just drop down the hatch an run like buggery

you cant sprint untill later in the game...
but you need to be fast! i made it in my first try.
she was covered in flames but a FMV started seconds later... maybe another bug
