What elements of what games has amazed you the most?
Doesn't have to be your favouritist game of all time, just the bits that made you think "Well done, fellas!" My votes - Most amazing graphics: Halo Most immersive sound: Halo/Silent Hill 2 (The former has incredible position accurate 5.1 Dolby Digital, the latter makes you poo your pants and pop the lights back on....) Most compelling story: Halo/MGS2 Best attention to Gameplay: Halo Most innovative touch: Limiting the player to two weapons only in Halo Most well-defined character: Snake in MGS2....using Raiden to offer a different perspective on our hero may have been frustrating, but it worked in this context. Most heart in mouth moment from any game: The Normandy beach landing in Medal of Honour: Allied Assault Most baffling puzzles that made you chuckle afterwards: Grim Fandango Best FPS: Halo Best RPG: None Best Third person game: Jedi Outcast Best beat 'em up: DOA3 Best driving/racing game: Project Gotham Racing Best RTS: None for me Over to you. Well, it would have to be the first Myst game. Up until then I had only played games on my old Apple II Plus (remember those?). I played text games like Zork and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Infocom and what non-text games I did play it was some 2-D game like the very first Castle Wolfenstein (did anybody ever play that?)
So when I first saw Myst I was totally blown away!!! (I still enjoy the text games...never did finish Zork 3) |

If so, then that's it. If not, then I dunno. Best Third person game: American McGee's Alice Best beat 'em up: Giants: Citizen Kabuto - just shooting up all those Ripper husks is a blast! Have yet to finish the Mecc story, begin Delphi and Kabuto's stories. Lots of fun! |
