I've put the game down for now as I don't want to play all the way through the game until it's finished. Clearly this game didn't get an serious play testing as there are so many graphically obvious bugs that's it's sickening. I think the game is really good but I want to fully enjoy it so I'm waiting for a patch that will put the finishing touch on the game before I continue. Can anyone confirm that a finishing patch for the PC version is in the works? Or is this going to go down in history as the worst "unfinished" game in the series.

What!?!?! You didn't encounter invisible walls and doors? Missing textures? Guards and monsters with missing parts? Lara turning invisible in water?

IndyAnna, you might be the luckiest person on the planet if you managed to play through the whole game and miss any graphical glitches. Are you telling me that Pierre in the Cafe in the Getto didn't look all messed up and without a face. And the same wasn't true of the guards in the Louvre Galleries? I find that hard to believe as one glance through the offical patch thread above will attest to the fact that many people have seen these errors and much more.

oh, that's right, we're supposed to be talking about AOD. Sorry. Um, I do know what you mean about buying new games when you still have old ones to play. I've just recently gone back to finish Project Eden. That's a largely underrated game, and if anyone on this forum hasn't tried it, I suggest you give it a go (and it features Lara's voice as Minoko... see, I did manage to relate this post to AOD somehow....) |

Patch locked up so reinstalled & just played as it was. I didn't get the fmv's & really only glitches had was the cafe's guys face, 1/2 of it. Was a minor texture glitch on small part of floor at end. Had invisible shotgun. Other than that most all other weren't seen.

Hey! I've had The Longest Journey sitting here for about 6 months. I get a little ways into it and then quit because the puzzles don't seem to make any sense at all. I couldn't see any logic. Like the stuff you have to do outside her window with the rubber duck and clothes line? WTF?
Anyway, does it get better, more logical later on? It seemed like it would be really cool, but I just can't stand random, illogical puzzles. Back on topic: As for TRAOD's controls. I didn't find them hard to get used to at all, or even very much different than the old ones (PC). The problem I had is they just DO NOT work! You press action to shoot and Lara holsters her gun! WTF?!?! You do a roll, and try to run the other way, and she does 2 rolls. Press jump and she just stands there. Several times she just turned 90 degrees and stopped for no reason. Doing a "hop" makes her curve in midair EVERY time in a random direction so you can't adjust to it. Sometimes she gets on a ladder, then imediately lets go and falls for no reason. Sometimes she gets on and refuses to move at all. And on, and on, and on...... Press F5 to save, see the save icon, go to reload it and there is no save! Press F9 to load saves a couple times and it starts loading random saves, not the last one! Sometimes it wont load one at all and you have to quit and restart to load a save. It's like the buttons were programmed to randomly choose an action every 10th press. |

You know what cheeses me off? It's not the fact that people take my legitimate thread off topic so that it's lost and never to be seen again, but the fact that a game developer/publisher can release a game that they know is unfinished, collect the $50/unit, and not have the common courtesy to at least let the paying consumer know what the intent is on finishing the game.
The only logical explanation I can think of for that strategy is that they must have no intention to finish the game. Because if they made that knowledge public, sales would plummet and total unrest would surmount in the community. |

It's just a final plunge into the dried up gold mine. Why to you think they tried to silence the reviews right off too.

I heard a rumour earlier last year that plans were to make addons for the PC version so it could be a add-on saga for Lara. I've no idea if plans for this are still in the pipeline tho. |

If they don't eventually bring out another patch, than I'll be appalled.
