To create a new and bigger TR fan base, maybe EIDOS/CORE could create games that are cross overs.

As mentioned in another post...
Lara's Mansion. A cross over with The Sims.
No need to go into much detail. We all know how cool her mansion was.

Lara and BloodRayne.
These two could explore Africa, Germany, Romania, and then ancient Aztec ruins. They could hunt down modern day Nazis and a immortal Hitler.

Lara and the Animaniacs
Lara accidently triggers a poisonous gas trap, that puts her unconscious. Wakko, Yakko, and Dot (she's cute) help Lara find her way out of being in a coma.

Larappa Duh Rappa
We can make Lara dance in rythym to mind numbing gangsta rap. After each session, we can have her carjack a ride, then do some drive by shootings.

Lara's Grand Theft Auto World Tour.
Lara is a mass murderer anyways. So, why not?

Most guys would consider Lara as being even all the more sexier, if she was out girl hunting. Theres just something appealing about gay chicks, other than double fun fantasies.

Lara and Solid Snake! She's be raiding some top secret lab, only to find Snake fighting off some clone and trying to deal with a big-ass robot.

Lara and Onimusha 3! She'd still be in Paris only to find Jean Reno and a couple of feudal Japanese samurai show up and start some crap with demons.

Lara and Cy-Girls; she'd fit in perfectly with this game

Were you refering to Solid Snake? He starts out as a Alaskan doesn't he?
Instead of the game starting off with Solid Snake sitting naked on the sub, it could be Lara starting that way.
