Big trouble in the city of the dead!! TR4

Hello everyone,

I have been having some major problem with TR 4's level 24 "city of the dead". Well, the motorcycle didn't prove as much fun as I expected after all the trouble I've been through to get it! After miraculously jumping over the ledge with the deep hole (right at the beggining of the level) I came to a dead-end on the other side. When consulting the game strategy (something I don't like to do, but I was really desperate ).. well, here exactly what it said:
"...Pull the lever to raise the grate that you pulled the body from. Return to the ýmotorcycle. Now face west. A small hill of sand will be in front of you. You ýmust use this hill to jump the bike on the ledge on the other side of this road. ýDrive into the hole in this ledge and into the area below.ý".. What on earth does that mean?

Sooo, I went & looked into another game strategy (desperate & annoyed this time! ). This is what the other one said:

"...Make you way back through ý
this part as if you followed my walkthrough you would now have the ýbike just ý
outside this area. Get on the bike and keep going straight until you ýreach a ý
small yet steep looking hill. Make sure you're at full acceleration ýwhen going ý
over this hill so your bike will make it up the small ledge and break ýthrough ý
the barricades up here. Once broken through the barricades the cycle ýwill fall ý
through the rocky area and now your in another dark section.ý"

Now, I either have a very low IQ or the guys are tellin' me to crash into the high section of the ledge opposite to me (I generally prefer thinking that their explanation is vague rather than accuse my intellegence! ), they can't be meaning to go down the hole because Lady Croft turns to ashes when her motorcycle explodes falling into this dark pit, which gets us to the point, do I really have to crash into the ledge? & if so, how is that possible? I never seem to be able to even at full acceleration. Pleeeeeeeeeeez please please help me out with that asap, I'd be very obliged

ps: where exactly is the laser eyesight in this game?

The laser sight isnt too far ahead.
You need to be on the other side of the hole (not the side which u jumped to) then you need to return to the area with the crawl space and the X shaped barricades. Accelerate from near the crawl space and drive up the pile of sand and aim for the area with the X shaped barricades. If you succeed you will land on the platform with the barricades, break through them and drop into the area below. The laser sight is about a minute from this point but i wont give anything away! Hope u figure it out.

I did it!! I can't believe that I've been wasting my time trying to do an impossible jump! Well after I did this I started jumping myself! I've been trying for days. To tell you the truth, I was suspicious about this place but soonn forgot about it when seeing the great canyon You really saved me, many thanks! I'm gonna leave you now to see what awaits me underground
