Question Royal Tenenbaums..?.. your opinion please

one strange movie we saw this movie last night and for the life of me i cannot decide if i should LOVE this movie or HATE it. it must have disturbed me in some way because i dreamt about it. i do think there was some very good acting in it, however Gweneth Paltrov [spell] seem to be poseing in that black overly done eye makeup most of the time, although its possible i just didn't "get it". if any of you have seen this movie i would love YOUR OPINION of it pleeeeeeeze......

I loved it. It treads the line of trying to be too self-consciously hip and weird... but I don't think it strays over the line. The writing is very fresh and different from most of the tripe that gets thrown into the multiplex. And the actors were universally good, except the always-mediocre Gwenyth Paltrow, who once was trapped for a whole weekend trapped inside of a wet paper bag as part of an unfortunate acting accident.

On the whole, good stuff. It also gets better with repeated viewings, so if you're still making up your mind, see it again.

Very strange movie indeed.....But I love anything with Gene Hackman.....Great actor.

Soundtrack was good albeit bizzare.....Like during one part the background track was an instumental by Bob Dylan called "Billy" and was the main title theme to "Pat Garret & Billy The Kid"....

Ithought ...what a strange place to insert that into the film.....

Default willows opinion

Well I thought it was brilliant. A very refreshing film. It was so bizarre that I couldn't help but love it. I enjoyed the direction of the film very much. I really fell in love with the children’s book element. And Gene Hackman was great.
