Iam new to ezboard, yesterday I made a community by it for my college ,it looks good but in the main page of the community there is a statement says :"Notice! Gold Community Trial will expire in 27 day(s). Go Gold NOW"
I didnt understand it well,is this mean that they will close my forum after this date if I dont pay to them?or it is just an optional? if you know please tell me if the forums are free or not? Bye |

It's free. The Gold Community just means you will be ad-free and pop-up free for that period of time. (30 days). It also has some other special features as well.
There is information in the main EZ-board community page which will give you information on how to purchase the Gold Community in the future if you chose to do so. |

Your forum will be the same only plastered with annoying ads and pop-ups. You'll have to review the information on the Gold Community to understand the other features, which offhand I am not sure you are even granted at this point because it's a trial. (Things like customizable profiles, etc.)
Basic account features will be the same. |

Actually, with a trial, you recieve everything you would with a Gold Community. Then after those 30 days, you get the ads all over and loose some abilities(chat, custom icons, custom logout, you cannot import a theme...etc.) Also, as the head of the community, you will be granted EzSupporter each time to buy Gold. This gives you no ads on any boards you visit even if they have ads and you can use your own CSS in your profile.

I did become an EZ-supporter recently and do enjoy the customization I can do with my account. |

Ohh, and another thing. With Gold, you can use Java. I didn't know that until my Gold expired and I had tons of lines of code all over my forum... |

I had no idea you could implement JAVA into it.

Yep, you can do it. I did a few things that were Java. I am not sure of the limitations with it though as I don't know Java that well.

You can look up Gold Community information at any time from the EZ Board main page.
Here is the information including the features of the Gold Community. As far as other message board services, just type something along the lines of Free Hosted Message Board Services into a search engine. I can't really comment on how good hosted boards are, on account I use free boards which you manually install onto a webserver in order to run it. (These are usually php-based). Unless you're familiar with php or other scripting languages you're better off sticking with the hosted boards. Last edited by Umah Bloodomen; 04-27-2003 at 09:30 AM. |
