This is a thread about all the ''Did you know'' facts about anything!
( It doesn't have to be only about gaming )!
Post your "Did you know" facts here!

    Exemple:
Did you know 8% of people have an extra rib?
Did you know reindeer like bananas
Did you know Lara Croft was originally named '' Lara Cruz ''?

Laura Cruz even. Acxording to the behind the scenes of the first movie it was because it was too hard to pronounce for Americans. AND she was male at first. Ha! The franchise would have been far from as good as it is now if it starred Lawrence Croft!

I'll try to think of a few fun facts later. As for now, enjoy this little fact:

You can bite of your fingers as easily as a carrot. But your brain keeps you from actually doing it.

Did you know that electricity will lose it's voltage the further it has to travel? Known as "Voltage drop", wire coming from the source (Meaning power plant, reactor, for example) must be sized much larger than you think you'd need for a given voltage. The size needed varies, depending on voltage and length of how far it will travel. This is part of why the cables on your power line outside the house are so friggin' massive. That and the source voltage is much larger than what you need to run your house, hence why it is first sent to a transformer to "step down" the voltage before sending it to your house. Typical voltage drop occurs after 100 feet.

I got two fun facts for you guys.

    Nr1:
Did you know? Research indicates that men have a harder time to identify with an opposite gender main character in a video game (or movie, books etc.) than women do? Woman can easily play both male and female characters and immerse into the game fully, while most men have a harder time to do that. Which could be a reason why there are more male leads than female.

    Nr2.
Did you know? A little less than half of the gaming community is female. Yes, that's right. About 44% of us is female. So don't act surprised when you walk into one.

heh... i never have a rough time playing as a chick in a video game, because my philosophy is, if I have to look at my on-screen character from behind, she'd better have a cute bum. . In fact, most 3rd person games I buy usually have female protagonists, or, if a 3rd person (or 3rd person optional) action RPG (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Mass Effect, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc...) allows for gender options, I'll always pick a female (unless she's just horribly designed).

In this day and age, I am never surprised by female gamers, and am always glad to run into to one. . (not walk......run. )

a-ha! So that's where "spare ribs" come from! Ermagherd! We're cannibals!

    Some more fun facts:

    Did you know.....?

-5/4 of people have trouble with fractions?
-No matter how hard you try, you cannot touch your elbow to your nose?
-In The Muppet Show, Kermit the Frog is the only crossover character from Sesame Street?
-Katy Perry was cut from a guest segment on Sesame Street because the dress she wore was too low cut for their standards?
-Star Wars was originally titled "The Star Wars"?
-Ripley, in the movie ALIEN was originally envisioned to be male?
-Sigourney Weaver (who played the much more attractively choiced female, Ripley, in ALIEN....thank you, oh wise producers . ) was six feet tall at age 12?
-In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream? (unless you're aboard the Nostromo)
-No matter where you go, there you are?
-In today's movie climate, PG is the new G, and PG13 is the new PG?
-Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (the second Indiana Jones film, released in '84) would've gotten an R rating in England if one minute of a certain bit of footage wasn't cut from the film?
-The Black Hole (1979) was Walt Disney Productions' first PG rated movie?
-Walt Disney Productions' first PG-13 rated film was actually an anime that they wished to distribute, but could only distribute it on the condition (set forth by the director) that WDP did not edit the film....so, thus its PG-13 rating?
-Walt Disney Productons have R rated films? They do, but they're released under company names like Touchstone Pictures or Miramax Films. (Pretty Woman is technically an R rated Disney movie)

Did you know human beings have a third eyelid? That pink bit in the inner corner of your eyes is it and it's called the plica semilunaris. It's a former nictitating membrane like those found on birds and reptiles. The muscles for their use have atrophied so much over thousands of years that it's no longer functional.
