Default Newbie Alert - Beginner Question

Hello all,

I am a newbie to this board and to the Level Editor. I have played a few custom levels and recently decided to try to make my own. I am not very technical and English is not my native language, so it's full of problems. Maybe you can help me?

I have followed the manual to the letter by making my first room. I have made a copy of the first room in the tut.prj, following the manual exactly.
It goes wrong by placing Lara. I can place Lara, but she is not Lara! The image I get when I go to "Object panel - choose" I do not get a Lara as we know her, but a dummy made out of.. legs?
I hope you understand me, what I am trying to say is that in the Object Panel Window I get a view of something entirely different then Lara. Her body is completely made out of her upper leg with the gun. I don't know what happened?

I continued and I made a wad and a playable tr4.file, everything acoording to the manual, but when I tried to play it, it crashed immediately. I guess this has to do with the strange Lara.

Can someone help me? Thank you very much!

It sounds like your wads are messed up. copy your tut1.prj file to the desktop. Then uninstall the level editor and delete the trle folder from your program files. Install the level editor again from the cd, and copy your tut1.prj file back into the trle\maps\tut1 folder, this way you wont loose the room you built. Everything should work ok then. Dont forget to install the updated wads again.

This is normal. You place the LARA object, which looks strange, in the map, but in game it will be the real lara. This can't be the reason for the crash.

Don't forget to delete the original Lara - you can only have one at a time.

Yes, 1 shall be the number of Lara, and the number of Lara shall be 1. 2 shall thou not place, neither place thou 0, excepting that thou then proceed to 1.

That's an old Monty Python joke, if anybody doesn't get it

Thank you very much for your replies.

I think I need to re-install LE, because I followed the manual exactly and deleted the original Lara so that couldn't be the problem.
I was confused why her body looked so strange to me. I will re-install the LE again and see how that works.

Thank you!

I don't know about the all legs problem, I've never heard of that problem. But in the room editor, Lara will not look like she does when playing the game. She looks a little like a puppet, with her joints all missing. If that is what you see, it is normal.
