Talking TR: The Cradle Of Life! Sponsored by Panasonic (Heavy Graphics)

Remember the first Tomb Raider Movie that had Ericson stamps and Land Rover tire marks all over it?

This time it is Panasonic that will do the discreet product placement.

"LAS VEGAS (January 8, 2003) ¾ Adding to the excitement of the launch of its newest e-wear™ SD A/V Recorders – Models SV-AV20 and SV-AV30 -- at the 2003 International CES here this week, Panasonic announced a global promotional campaign in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific around the theatrical release of “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.” The movie, which features the sleek new e-wear units, is a Paramount Pictures film presentation in association with Mutual Film Company, BBC, TELE-MUNCHEN, and TOHO-TOWA directed by Jan De Bont and starring Angelina Jolie.

Inspired by Eidos’ legendary video game heroine, director Jan De Bont delivers a breath taking action film, starring Angelina Jolie as the famous adventuress-archeologist Lara Croft, who faces her greatest challenges and dangers yet and shows off her physical prowess like never before. During this exciting installment of her adventures, the intrepid tomb raider jet skis, horseback rides, motorcycles and much more through Hong Kong, China, England, Greece, Africa and Tanzania, as she searches for an infamous site known as “The Cradle of Life”.

Shot at the famous Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” will feature incredible locations from around the world. Panasonic has closely collaborated with the filmmakers to ensure that state-of-the-art portable technology is available to Lara Croft to assist her in her daring adventures."

Cool

The resolution is only 640x480 (which is a joke today), but you can get a 1 GB memory stick for it.

The UK panasonic site for the eWear range mentions nothing at present -http://www.panasonic-europe.com/ewear/
But as yet they don't even have anything about the SV-AV20 up yet, only it's predecessor the SV-AV10.
Still, I presume a suitably overdone site will emerge in the near future.

...and it is kinda nice isn't it Catsuit'
Humm... me thinks next time they use product placement in TR films, they should give members of the forums product testing privilages

What amuses me is that Panasonic seems so terribly chuffed with their little box of tricks, but Pocket DV2 Camcorder have had their camera out for around a year now, it might not be quite as pretty, but it's the same size, has better specs, and is a 1/3 of the price!
