Hello Scot, I have two questions for you:

- Have you considered any negative feedback about the Lara's new face?

- How long did it take to work on the Definitive Edition?

Thank you very much

Is there a limit of questions per user?

1.) Why did you feel to change Lara's face that much? She looks very different now. Why didn't you just update the original one with better skin and eye material (sub surface scattering, etc.), better textures, ...?

2.) I guess the footage we've seen was rather old material since Lara was missing all of her scars and scratches and also her ripped shirt? Will they be there in the final version?

Hello Scot
I am 64 years old and I've been a gamer for more than 20 years. Tomb raider is definitely one of my favorite. Saying that, I do expect from the new and super powerful PS4 to play smoother and faster than my old PS2 where even the Gran Turismo was able to run at 60fps. I will gladly pay another $60 - for the same game I have on my PS3- if you can assure me the game will run on my new super console at
1920x1080x60fps.
Enough of broken promises from developers. This is not 20 years ago where a television measured 20" at 480i and you could hide some imperfections. Today on 50" to 80" LCD at 240hz you can see all the faults and imperfections. I believe people pay fair amount of dollars for you games and in 2014 they deserve a little more than more of the same.
PS: Just for the sake of the argument, I would ten times rather have perfectly smooth game play than more upgraded graphics. what about you?
Thank you
Milan

Will other characters besides Lara be receiving a "next-gen" makeover?

Hello! Certainly our team is passionate about creating the best Lara ever! So having a chance to test the waters with next-gen console tech and doing a new Lara was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. For us, we always want to push the boundary on excellence and that means never settling.

As for how long to make it ... we started planning it as far back as Nov 2012 and started work in January 2013 and it's not quite done yet... so it will be 1 full year by the time we launch in January, 2014.

Hi Scot!

1)Will the game be 30fps or 60fps?

2)When you say Lara's face in this game is our first look into what she can look like on the PS4/Xbox One for future consoles, does that mean that is indeed what she'll look like or just a 'first pass' kind of makeover?

Actually all in-game characters were updated for next-gen; but Lara is the star so she got the super-deluxe treatment! We did up rez geometry, textures, and other aspects for all primary characters in the story.

I'd say Lara's looks are just the start for what we will continue to evolve for all future iterations of Tomb Raider on next-gen.

Hello Milan, thank you for the passionate post! Certainly all developers always want to deliver the best experience on whatever platform we are are delivering a game for. When we started Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition it was truly to craft the vision of the game the team always had in mind but now able to leverage all of the horsepower of the new platforms and the dedicated time we had to craft this experience. The best experience is what we always plan to deliver. I am convinced you will be satisfied with what TRDE has to offer and look forward to your response after you get to see it and play it in person. Your passion is precisely the type of fan that motivates us to do what we do - deliver the best.

1. Is the face you showed at VGX the final version ?

2. Did you changed Lara's expression on cinematics ?

Maybe it's not your place to answer this, but there it goes:

- Is there any chance of, who bought the last gen version of Tomb Raider, can have a discount in there new gen version?

- And will the game be full price?

Congrats in the success of the game!

Will the definitive edition make its way to the PC platform (if it even warrants enough changes considering we already have TressFX, higher resolutions, etc.)? Perhaps via patch?

There is a stark contrast between Lara's current face and the one shown in the DE reveal. It just breaks consistency, considering the PC platform can already do what you have done with the DE for the newly released consoles, if it weren't available for us whether PC players like the new changes or not.

I can't wait to play TR on the new consoles!

Are there any differences between the PS4 and XB1 versions? I own both of the new consoles and am curious which version might have an edge, even if it's slight.

Do both versions run at 1080p? Are both 30fps?

Thanks so much!

Does the art book edition come in a standard game case or does the art book serve as the game case?

Our Sr. Art Director, Brian Horton, directed the exploration and development of the next-gen Lara as seen in Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. We did start with the idea of updating just her skin or a few extra polygons, but as we started to learn more about the hardware and what was possible, we felt Lara deserved even more attention. So we had the same folks who built her for the initial PS3/X360 version dedicated to reworking her for the next-gen version. In the end... we're excited about both this new step in upgrading Lara with her new TressFX hair, new sub-surface scattering on skin, and overall new look. But we're never satisfied ... meaning Brian and team are anxiously looking forward to feedback from everyone when they see her live on PS4/Xbox One in January as we listen to all feedback and will greedily take and reflect on your inputs for ways we could even improve her further in the future.

Thanks for answering!

But what about her scars and the ripped shirt we don't see in the trailer?

Also, I assume TressFX is only be used for Lara? Do you think the next-gen consoles could handle it if there was TressFX for other characters also or is it already at the maximum?

If you guys are interested in exploring this more, I can try to get Brian in on a podcast in the new year to talk about next-gen Lara's look a bit more!
