Talking A lovely plane ride....not when Lara's involved

I've taken back up work early

Tell me I'm crazy, but I love this new project I'm working on. An airplane, you ask? That's a silly idea for a custom level. You'll change your mind when you see the screen

Isn't it great? I made a custom horizon for it, 360 degrees for a full view of the sky above and the land far below. The level also has great new textures and audio, starting off with a cutscene showing the plane and the captain making an announcement.

This plane is fully-ultra-mega first class, boasting a japanese cafe above, and couches with big-screens below.

A pic of the big screens and couches-

You can see a guy on the couch. I'm making people for this level, real people that move and stuff. I want to make it realistic, this guy will sit back and relax, others might walk around. I'm going to retexture him (more like change the color of his clothes) to make more people, to add some diversity. If someone would be kind enough to retexture him a woman it would be a great help, as I probably couldn't do that

Here's another screen of that guy-

I'm hoping this level will be a success, as I have a bunch of ideas for it, and it's something I'd like to stick to. It's original, and that's what I like about it.

I'm even considering having a part at the end where Lara must walk around on the outside of the plane, across the wings, etc. That would make for a nice secret too.

Here's one last screen of the level, the plane from the bottom-

Pretty cool, huh? Let me know what you think

Thanks go to prjsaves for finding the plane.

Wow! Way cool idea!
Please do the part on the outside of the plane. The background music for that will have to be preety windy though, or it won't be beleivable...
This looks so cool, so I hope you don't mind this other suggestion: I think it would look a little better to have the inside wing striaghit, same as the ouside. Just me, though...
I can't wait for this level. You are right. It is very original!

Thanks everybody

I probably will do the part on the outside, it's a nice idea, but could anyone be on the wing of a plane at 24,000 feet?

It might be just a bit criticised when judged That and the fact that the plane is very small on the outside, compared with the roomy inside, but still. I have plenty of SFX, wind will not be a problem.

I have nice sounds for inside the plane as well, I might even have little announcements from the captain as the game progresses. There might be little conversations between people, but as they would not move their mouths it would be kind of weird...

You guys are gonna love this project when it's done

I'm making it much bigger than I thought. The small model you've seen the screens of will be used for cutscenes, and there will be a much much bigger plane, windows and everything. It could take me days to get all the sides and stuff set up, but it'll be worth it to have a nice big plane to play around in (and on)

I'll have screens up soon, but it doesn't look very pretty at the moment

I have lots of work ahead of me

The third screen reminds me of the very beginning of Megaman Legends 2. Interesting. Looks awesome C5! Can't wait to play it

You can see in through the windows the top and bottom floors. I have the bottom of the plane done, and the sides are near done, but I have to do the other side, the front, back, and top

Lots of work

Those screens look amazing I like how you added Jean Yves to it. It would be cool if you included him in the story line (he did survive TR last revelation, didn't he? I can't remember)

I'm pretty sure he did, but I didn't really like that part of tr4 much anyway lol, so I've forgotten too.

Maybe the bad people that break into the plane are after him, and Lara has to save him? I don't really know if there will be any "bad people" but it seems like that's what would happen in a plane level (other games have had stuff like this) but I want to have a little adventure on the outside of the plane first

I wish there were some kind of wind resistance effect I could pull...I doubt it though, players will need an imagination for this one.

Good suggestion, I'll see if I can fit him into the story, I'll post it officially when I'm done

Ah.. The lovely NOLF Unexpected Turbulence horizon.

Suggestions - Make the interior slightly smaller.. The roof is a bit high..

Other than that, it looks great!

SShhh! You blew my secret

I didn't snag the horizon, just the textures, which was a hell of a lot of work by itself.

I can rip textures, but I can't rip objects...unless you know a way maybe? If it's possible I'd love to hear how, send me a PM

The plane is not an object actually, it's made with real roomedit geometry. That plane might be replaced by the real thing when I finish the outside, more impressive looking.
