Default World's first look at Deus Ex: Human Defiance TOMORROW!

Just seen this pop up on facebook!

It looks like it'll be the title to an upcoming film, rather than a game, but still exciting!

Any stabs as to what we'll be seeing tomorrow?

Not convinced. Sounds like a pretty weak idea for an April fools joke to me

Also, whoops. Someone got in just before me. Now where's the "delete thread" button...

But it's just bad marketing to make an announcement on April Fools Day. Oh wait, EM - bad marketing - yeah it kinda makes sense now.

Errm, maybe they're trying to set a tone of cyberpunk paranoia for us!

Their marketing strategy concentrates on the virtues of keeping very quiet until they're completely ready to let loose. The campaign for HR was pretty great I thought, once they decided to get it moving.

Imagine if they make it look like it's an April fool's joke, and everyone knows it's a joke, and they announce tomorrow that they are really making a new game! Double fooled!

Hey guys, just to confirm, this is NOT a movie - it is a game. Can't say anything more than that right now though.

I was wondering about those squares. My resolve about it not being April fools is slipping.

Well, DXHR was the 3rd DX game and it featured triangles which have 3 vertices/sides. If this is a 4th DX game it might feature squares which have 4 vertices/sides.

Edit ~ so we're still going with the ty black and gold?

So in DX 6 will we find out why AJ had a hexagon on his head?

That's why I am certain it's a joke. No way you would go with the same logo design and color scheme like that. People made fun of the triangles so now they are doing squares.

Yes. But circles are all the rage.

It does seem odd that the logo design is so similar, but perhaps that's what we'll be seeing tomorrow.

    What?
This makes no sense to me.

The Sarif Industry website was a genius piece of marketing, imo.

Anyway, thanks for the alert, DarlinG.

68_pie, we would have to consider HR as being the 'first' game rather than the third, wouldn't we?

I don't know. It can't very well work retroactively. I mean, DX:HR was a prequel, so the original DX would have to be associated with a shape that has at least four or more sides to it. There's like two intersecting 'C' shapes and a ball in the middle of them.

The Sarif Industry website was indeed a genius piece of marketing, however if this is indeed an April Fool you're going to make a lot of enemies (were you trying to change something?). Deus Ex has an huge fanbase but let's not try to make them angry. I'd probably be REALLY upset tomorrow if I find out that it was a joke.

A new game then? for real?

Cool. A film would've been hokey anyway.

If it's an April's fool joke, I'm buying myself an axe and a ticket to Montreal. I've been dying to get some more Deus Ex.

I hope they get the old team back for more Deus Ex goodness and that the game is not four years away this time.

Prediction: mobile phones / tablets only, free to play with microtransactions.

Oh, and it's an endless runner.
