    Whoops!

But ... how does such a patch work? Let's say I download it and then. Do I put it in the same folder as AOD or do I need to overwrite a certain file with this patch? Please help me ... I'm desperate, but then again: aren't we all?

Thanks GoranAgar! You're the man ... if it works.

P.S.: I just found another creepy looking guy like that. One of the two guards at the Louvre is also having facial problems.

    bye 4 now

After all: your link for the patch doesn't seem to work with me. This is what I get, no hard feelings ... I hope.

Good one, GoranAgor! I knew you couldn't be mad at an innocent boy like me.

But serious (or something like it): your link is out. How can I get a patch then, please? Or ... is that why you said "Got you!" I'm confused here; maybe you said that for both the so-called angry-part and the broken link which you might've known in advance.

Anyways, I'd really like to get my hands on this patch if it does indeed fix some of my character's heads. I've got a great idea all of a sudden! Wouldn't lowering the settings for characters and stuff (and if so: please tell me which setting to lower coz I don't have a clue what setting does precisely what) solve the problem of the barman's fu ... messed up face? Thank you.

    Cool

    Fixed the URL.

    http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/su....html?gmid=134

You know how I found it? I went to Eidos.co.uk and looked for the new url. They are not really hiding it.

Damn! That's what I forgot! The "co" in the URL; I just mentioned www.eidos.uk or something.

    Anyway, thanks a lot!

I have Athlon 1,2 Ghz, 512 Mb ram, Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64 Mb - Windows XP pro with Directx 9.0a...
When i start the game i see the fmv, eidos, core, introduction, but when it would appear the menu screen i see the last frame of fmv and hear the music... (i installed also the patch but the problem remains)
I tryed with win98 (i got 2 SO) the game start without fmv, and the game runs perfectly, but i can't see any fmv (i think win98 don't support them)
    Please help me

    Zad

    Question

I've read that AOD looks choppy on Radeon 9800 video cards. Can someone justify this? It doesn't make much sense to me. By the way, my system specs are P4 3.2GHz w/ HT, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9800 (Non-Pro), Sound Blaster Audigy 2 w/ DVD audio. Thanx!

I, too, get a black screen while the fmv's play. Any suggestions?
    Thank you
    Shirley
BTW, plays great on my laptop.

Start with getting a new driver for that graphic card.

Then have a look at this:

Q: I am getting a black screen after the FMV or the last frame of the FMV sticks, no menu. What do I do?
A: Here are some of the settings you can change that have helped in some of the cases:

Set Frame Rate Compensation to Fast if it is set to Smooth.

If that doesn't do the trick, disable the option Post Process in your game graphic card settings under Render Targets. (Thanks to Cube for this one)

If that doesn't do the trick, disable AA, Framerate Compensation and check vsync.

Check your settings. If you find a HID conform Device in your settings, disable it.

ok checked most of those, my card doesn't have most of those options listed /(i looked long and hard to make sure)

    still no joy!!!!

    latest driver = yes

    frame rate compensation = fast

post process = ain't got that option

disable AA, Framerate Compensation and check vsync = i assume at default cause i couldn't find any of these options either, vsync is on by default, tried it off, no joy

If you find a HID conform Device in your settings, disable it. = ain't got one

It's like when I'm trying to shoot some bad guy, I have to wait a few seconds after tapping the Draw button till she has the gun out...

Anyone know if this is a bug, or if its my system that can't handle it ?

I just bought AoD today, and I'm already having problems with it.

I've finished installation, and when I go to play it, I get this message

    The Following Error has occured

Cannot find the DirectX 9.0 Direct3D DLL
    Please install Microsoft DirectX 9.0

    (Built Using: D3D 0x0900 Version 31)
I clicked the install DirectX 9.0 option in the AoD install, but apparently isn't not registering.

I'm not quite sure what to post from the dxdiag thing, but there was this:

    DxDiag Notes
    ------------
DirectX Files Tab: Several files (dpnwsock.dll, dpnmodem.dll) are missing!
You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.
Display Tab 1: No problems found.
Sound Tab 1: No problems found.
    Music Tab: No problems found.
Input Tab: No input devices detected.
    No problems found.
Network Tab: The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 TCP/IP Service Provider' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 IPX Service Provider' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Modem Service Provider' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Serial Service Provider' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX.
You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

The entire dxdiag thing looked way too long to post here, so are there any specific parts I need to post here to be of more help?

Have you tried installing DirectX from the CD directly before installing the game?

    Hi,

Although everything was running pretty smoothly, I decided to install the patch because I just got to the part where the cafe bar man has a hole for a head... However, after installing the patch, the game won't even start at all. After choosing to run the game, it goes into full screen mode, then the black screen closes, and I'm returned to Windows with a big dialogue box titled "Application Error" saying:

    Build Jul 2 2003 17:17:10

    The Following Error has occured

    Generic Game Error

    ASSERTION: 'SUCCEEDED(hr)' at C:\projects\tomb raider\Game\shell\system\PC\sys_d3d_vmr9.cpp(1568)

What the? I don't even have a folder called c:\projects etc - it is as though the patch is only a test build or something. Has anybody else had this problem? And if so, how did you solve it?

In the meantime, I'm going back to the unpatched version...

    Cheers,

    Default FMV patch problem

Hey - I bought AOD on Thursday, and have done little but try to get it work since. Today I bought a new graphics card, so my system specs are as follows:

    128MB ram
    40 gig hard drive
    running winME
    AMD Duron processor
    E-GeForceFX 5200 128MB DDR AGP graphics card

Those are the basics, I've got more, but the way I figure, I post a page full of figures, peeps don't read about my problem. I've searched the boards and have yet to see this problem mentioned. Here it is:

Before I load the patch, I have no FMV sequence at the beginning of the game, I get into the game and have the Lara as Chipmunk problem. The game's a little jerky, but I'm betting I can fix this by editing settings.

However, like I said, I don't have the beginning FMV at all. I install the patch and try to run the game again. Where the FMV sequence is supposed to go, I see the following:

Unknown file, please insert the correct disk for:
    DATA/FMV/EIDOS.mpg

This is on a black screen and in the font of the game. The second line is slightly super-imposed over the first line, they overlap.

Please help! What, o what should I do???

    Default PS2 Dual-shock vibration

    Hi Goran,

I hope this hasn't been asked already (can't see it anywhere). I apologise in advance if it has.

I see your FAQ about the controller settings being left out for the PS2 version of the game but I also can't find how to turn the vibration control on and off?

Looking on other boards I see other gamers talking about using it so I guess it must exist somewhere? Or is it only in US versions of the game? Could (would) it have been taken out for the PAL version for some reason?

    Thanks in advance.
