Talking SR3 news!!!

This may be a rumor, in PLAY magazine (dunno what issue) on their list of releases for 2003, Soul Reaver 3 was listed in September!

All right! That means it'll be here around January 2004!

I dearly hope that Hash'ak'gik's magazine's mistaking.

My money's on 2004 something something. No 2003. It being bad.

September would still mean they'd spent about two years making on it. The retail version of SR2 was built in October of 2001.

I don't think this one will be short.

If Crystal know what they're doing - and I trust they do - they won't release it before it's 110% finished. Overly optimistic release dates had nasty effects on the first two games.

i thought they weren't going to announce a planned release date, that would mean deadlines, that would mean cuts, that would suck

Janos, be honest with yourself - what software company WON'T announce a release date? That'd be like releasing a major box-office smashing movie... with NO advertising whatsoever. It just doesn't make business sense.

However, for them to have announced it this early does seem a little out of keeping with their general policy. I'm thinking either the magazine made a goof - or CD is much further ahead of the game than they've told anyone.

BAH!!!

That magazine probably just made that up, the last two SR games both came out Sep/Oct.

So for people to expect the next one in Sep/Oct makes sense to me.

I also think its hysterical how people say it's too soon. That's for the creators to decide, not us.

i didn't mean that they weren't going to announce it
just not so early

like if they told us to expect it by the end of 2003

they would have to work really fast and lots of things will be left out

their only deadline is may to present it at e3, but it can be in the lowest of demo modes for that

plus odd that chris didn't tell us this
he always says he will keep us posted about news

I remember that Soul Reaver 2 was released very shortly after my birthday here in the UK. I think it was a week or two, but that still places it in December 2001. So, if that release date is anything to go by, the Soul Reaver team would've had about one year and nine months, assuming they more or less got started on the next game straight after Soul Reaver 2 was released.

Personally, I think that date may be a guess-timate by the magazine...

*start's to twitch like mad* I'LL NEVER LIVE TO PLAY SR3!!! AAAUURRGH!!!!

O_O

I mean...well, you see, it'll take SR3 less time that SR2 did, because SR2 was for the PS2 and not the ps1. They weren't familiar with it...That's what I heard atleast.

That's true... without having to build the engine from the ground up, it might not take as terribly long to make. The US OPM also mentioned that SR3 would be released this year "to tie together the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver stories."

True dat, Rio. Maybe CD has learned from their mistakes and SR3 is further than we could imagine...
... There is also the possibility that the magazine tried to predict the date. I've seen that more than once. And I'm not talking about months but years the magazines have miscalculated.

I doubt they guessed it, cos they also had the dates for big titles like the new GTA and Hitman 3. They would look if their guess was wrong.
Since virtualy no-one beleives my evidence, next time I won't bother posting if I find any news in a PS2 magazine .

I think the reason why so many people are skeptical is because we haven't really heard any information about the game yet. All we know is that it's in production. I wouldn't take it too personally, Hash'ak'gik.

If they had dates for Hitman 3 and the next GTA as well, I would be *very* skeptical. Maybe it was their April issue? =)

Look, it had a ton of games sceduled for 2003 and 2004, though SR3 was definetly in the 2003 section. Get the mag if you don't beleive me.

No, I'm sure it was in there. I'm just saying that *none* of those games have official release dates yet, so either they're guessing based on rumours, or they're making them up as a joke.

Agreed. If it hasn't been officially confirmed by the game developers theirselves then it's still basicly a rumour.
Hitman 3 You say... ? I'm also beginning to think it was an Aprill issue.

Now, don't take it personally Hash. You sound like my sister.
We're being sceptical towards the magazine, not You. You told us what You read.

The September release date may have come from this site. The writers in the magazine could have looked at the official announcement page about the soul reaver/blood omen compilation. That is being released in late September.
