Smile website, looking for some feedback

Hey all,

I'm working on a website and I'm interested to hear what you think. The goal of the site is to have it eventually powered by a news script that I'll be writing myself as a programming exercise. Aside from that it has a section with security tips that people can use to prevent catching virusses/other malware.

It's mostly a hobby project and I don't expect many people to see it, aside from people who will click the link in my signature and perhaps future employers.

So tell me what you think, does it work ok in your browser if not what browser are you using and what resolution are you running.

I'm not promising that I will actually change a lot of the website based on feedback, as my knowledge of HTML and CSS is very limited, just curious if it looks ok.

SIte is located over here for now: http://michielb.net

Thanks,

First thing I noticed is that the menu doesn't work without javascript (I have it blocked by default, for security reasons (ironically )).

Best to design without the need for javascript for browser compatibility.

Second, your contact page comes up blank for me. But I'm guessing that's meant to be blank so far.

BTW, why post this here? Not that I have a problem with it, but wouldn't you receive more feedback in the community chat forum?

Ah I should've thought about that, quite ironic indeed. I'll look into changing the menu (and adding the blocking javascript to the security tips )

Yes that's meant to be this way so far, I'll probably add the contact form later today

Well I thought it could be seen as advertising, but if you are ok with it I'll move it to the CC.

heh, as long as you don't sell any products on that site right now, and just want feedback/tips/help, I'd say it's fine
