I was poking around on the main Eidos site today and found this:
"Ever sat on the couch until 2 AM, eating chips, drinking sodas and playing video games? Ever watched the sun set AND rise during a single gaming session? Ever wish that you could get paid for it? We are looking for temporary testers to help us release what will be one of the most ambitious and anticipated group of titles in the industry. Potential titles to work on will be on the PC, Playstation 2 and Gamecube so personal experience with any of these is a must. Although experience within the industry is not necessary, it is a plus. Qualified individuals must be able to work from our San Francisco headquarters, and be available for overtime. Temporary assignments last no longer than 6 - 9 months, and may be terminated earlier at the company's discretion." Personally I'd give this a shot if it were a permanent position. I'm too paranoid to move to another city for a temporary deal in the current job market. However, this would be fun for anybody who is closer to SF than I am =). |

Basically - yes. Although I live in the UK and certainly don't have the cash to move to SF... those with power may want to pass on my name to its UK counterhalf ![]() Blinc - I'm not sure if you've read this, but on the UK Eidos page: Quote:

But blinc - we all know you want to be the first to test SR3 though really ![]() Note: All this info was gained from this page Last edited by Omega One; 01-18-2003 at 06:28 PM. |

Haha, yeah, testing SR3 would be a big bonus. I have other ulterior motives, though, like secretly hoping they'd still have copies of the unfinished Saturn version of Blood Omen and Dreamcast version of SR2 that I could play =).

Be careful though--you could end up testing something like the 102 Dalmatians game....
Could you really handle that??? |

Sarah: I would be willing to make the sacrifice, for the good of TLW fans =).
Vampmaster: Good plan. I'm pretty much open to playing with any prototype of the game, even though it's almost certainly not going to happen. |

Even for a temporary stint, whoever gets the job is one lucky person.

I agree. QA jobs aren't always fun (they often involve doing the same thing over... and over... and over... and then documenting it), but it would be really cool to be able to see a game come together over time.

I'd definitely do it....if I wasn't in school.....and I lived near SF.

I'd do it part time or for a summer job if I lived near London (They're taking on people there as well.) or if they had another office a bit nearer to where I live. I read a tlw that they're looking at DMC as research for SR3. (Could have read it wrong though.) It would be so cool if Raziel had a move like the one where Dante leaps into the air and homes in on the enemy in a huge fireball. Any kind of attack from the air that Raziel could do would be awsome.

I didn't say they were looking at it as research, just that their marketing department is *possibly* making the comparison between the next Legacy of Kain game and several non-Eidos titles (including DMC).
*I don't know* what all CrystalD is looking at for research. I'm a long ways away from them, remember =). That having been said, I agree that having a visually complex fighting system like DMC could be fun. IMO it would be one of the few ways to show how powerful Kain is, assuming it really will be a Raziel/Kain game. |

Blinc, I made that point that I could have read it wrong to make it clear that was only what I thought you said and not what you actually said.

No worries. Sorry if I sounded like I was snapping at you. I just don't want people to see that and think I have some kind of inside line to what the SR3 team is basing SR2 on =).

Chris, will there be any new positions for 3d character modelers or level designers on the SR3 team?

There could be a position opening up for a lead tester soon. I haven't heard from or seen Chris around in ages. I think he was abducted by Hylden.

Oh man, if only I had 5+ years experience in the games business, a significant management and business background, experience managing more than 2 products at one time with budget responsibility of at least $6mm, experience working on at least two successful original properties (with sales in excess of 500k units), and a background as a producer working on external projects.

Maybe I should dig out the '3D s MAX - A visual quick start' book, and try learning it.
I'm really interested in 3D animation (even if I'm not much of an artist in real life) and I've applied for two courses at Universities to study just that. Unfortuantly, SF is still a long way-away and even if I pass the degrees, I doubt I'd be good enough for the quality of professional designers. Be quite willing to test them though, or a more 'supervisial' role would suffice

Thanks for your answer, Chris! I am very interested in the positions of Designer and Evironmental Artist. However, I won't apply for either yet since I feel my portfolio needs some work first. Applying now would be disrespectful.
![]() But soon! Thanks again! |
