6:45 am: Wake up from a restful nights sleep, and take care of the three s's(,shower and shave). Soon I'm out the door after having kissed the wife goodbye.

7:55 am: Arrive at Eidos Montreal office, then have to run to restroom after having three cups of coffee before I left for work.

8:10 am: Finally at my desk to start work on Thief.

10:30 am: "Fran" came by to discuss another project being developed by Eidos, but that's all I can say about that.

11:50 am: Leave for lunch. While at the restaurant we make sure we mention something about a game at least once so we can claim it as a business expense, and leave our server an 18% gratuity.

1:20 pm: Back at my desk, when "Bob" comes running by telling me I'm 20 minutes late for a staff meeting. How the heck do they expect me to get any work done with all these interruptions?

3:45 pm: After that stupid meeting, I'm told to give an interview with a gaming magazine, so I tell them "Thief will bring more than stealth". And also "Thief isn't just corridor shoot, shoot".

5:30 pm: Man, what a long day. I think I really got a lot accomplished today. Now it's time to head home, relax, spend time with my wife, then goto bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow.

Again this is fictional, and any similarities are entirely unintentional. I know the developers are doing whatever they can to make this a great game.

You didn't even mention me! I demand a rewrite.

Ok refocusing!: The stupid L33T speak logo has seeped into my consciousness in such a way I don't think of Thief 4 as Thief 4 anymore but as Thiaf (this is on top of other thoughts and feelings about Thiaf such: as how much this forum sucks, bafflement about why you guys can't engage the audience etc). The logo is also ridiculed by other civilians and the gaming media. We have also seen recently a wide assortment of gaming sites running articles about the screwed development of Thiaf (as it appears to the whole world that you have left in the dark) and the lack of communication. Why has EM allowed these negative perceptions to go unchecked?

Ohh no Thiaf apathy is rising ... don't know why I bothered typing this.......expect no respsonse....or game to be released....................

At least we know, according to the ADMIN, that SE bears no responsibility for this PR/Marketing debacle and it's all on EM's shoulders, we could take aim at EM with our frustration, but I would caution us not to.

Here's why. We know factually that EM is beleaguered. Read the Kotaku article, look at the timeline, notice the unprecedented behavior, understand the industry, and you will see the light.

EM is a young, young organization. Their first game was a huge hit. They are under a tremendous amount of pressure to deliver the same results with their second attempt. Unfortunately, it ain't coming out so good. Tons of miscues along the way... key people jumping ship....PR/Marketing graduates whose degrees still have wet ink.

They're trying to find themselves...all while taking a public beating by every media outlet. Forget about the gratuitous backpatting by magazines and websites who are "on the payroll". I'm talking about everyone else.

Boxing analogy:
EM went into the ring to face their second "opponent". They made short work of their first opponent, Deus Ex. Their second opponent, Thief 4, would be just as much of a pushover, wouldn't he? EM just got clobbered with a left hook from out of nowhere. While they were dancing around, grandstanding, gloating from their first "victory", they got clocked. Down they went. Bloody nose. 1,2,3,4,5. They're trying to get up and shake off the cobwebs. Thief 4 is turning out to be more of a challenge than they anticipated.

EL KABONG! Just as they got up and the fight resumed, an uppercut nearly tore their head off. Down they went again. NO more smirk on EM's face now, is there? 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. They struggle to their feet...barely.

I could go on forever with this, but to what end? The point is, EM is struggling. Oh, we're pretty sure they will win this fight in the end, but let's not root against them. We want them to win, don't we? Yeah, it's nice to see the cocky ones put in their place from time to time, but we know the point has been made. They sure as heck will approach their third game from a different perspective. I'm quite sure they have learned what not to do, in the last 4 years.

I'm actually more excited about their 3rd game than Thief 4. I hope it's something original and not another sequel. That's too safe. That's like a "cover" song. It's the true test of how good a studio really is.

I don't make the rules hun, I just ensure that they are being followed. If not, moderators must issue infractions... its part of the job.

It's funny how this forum literally feels like anarchy to me. Because the first forum posts I ever made were on a forum where rules were totalitarian, and the moderators were like the Stasi. So that left an impression in my brain. There, merely discussing in a neutral or positive manner any activities that the moderators did, constituted a ban, because talking about mod activities was against the rules, even if it was praise. In this forum, directly and deliberately insulting mods gets you mere infractions, and trolling is allowed but accusing anyone of trolling is not.

So in there, the rules of the forum were strictly enforced by mods with absolute power, and in here the rules of moderation are strictly obeyed voluntarily by the mods. Punishing trolls is impossible because everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and it's not possible to tell if someone is trolling or just incredibly stupid. But punishing accusers of trolling for backseat moderation is easy because their actions are the proof of guilt.

I might be misunderstanding your post... but, generally speaking, I don't believe it is fair to decide a person is a troll (and call them one) just because we don't like what they say, or their style etc. A troll is really someone who just posts to deliberately break the rules and flame/be outright rude to others etc... eg. Katana1000.
