I reckon he is speaking rubbish in that part of the article. The refusal to release info, the fact that a seemingly large number of people have left the project, the unreleased (potentially abandoned) trailer, lack of engagement with fans/community all go against his statements.

First off, if there were actually news, the last place it would appear would be on Twitter. You wouldn't get D'Astous tweeting about new Thief developments.

The second to the last would be Facebook. Both sites are not in the demographic and appeal to only a small % of people.

3rd to the last would be this very forum. Even though this is an official Eidos forum, it was created for the sole purpose of online presence. No it was not created to garner feedback from fans. No it was not created for a dialog for ideas to flow. This site exists ONLY as a springboard for Deus Ex Human Revolution and other upcoming Eidos Games.

The first place Thief 4 news would come from would be from websites like IGN, Gamespot, or GameFaqs. Tens of millions of new visitors per month is the perfect place to advertise your game. And as I have outlined to you all before, sites like these are paid to give stellar reviews. They are "On the Payroll" of studios. Studios give them hundreds of thousands of dollars for ads, and in return they get glowing reviews. Both parties are happy. Win win.

If they were, then take solace from the fact that they said they were playing an Xbox version of the game, and if it takes the pattern from Deadly Shadows, the console versions will default to third person, whilst the PC will default to first person.

That's pretty cool! And amazing that they're looking to the EM developers to help them out. Very promising.

And, of course, it makes the prospect of there one day being a Thief movie a step closer to reality! (Whether that's a good thing or not, however, is open to personal opinion...)

You may or may not of found out that Deus Ex is being made into a movie. Even though Stephane D'Astous just gave an interview discussing specifics of the game's design philosophy, and even confirming that they're using the Unreal engine? That kind of gullibility?

When he started at Eidos Montreal, he was the only employee: from there he built the studio, and put together the team that turned a ten-year-old franchise into one of the best games of 2011, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Now they've got to do it all over again with Thief 4.

No worries. I forgot to mention that in the article D'astous says that T4 is using Ue3. Not that we didn't know that before from our own investigations.

Oh, and coyotegrey's tweet about his adventures this week pertains to him being at sdcc. Nothing to do with T4.

Yet again the thread title changed. But no news. D'Astous made very sure that whatever he said conveyed no information related to Thief 4. He even dodged the question about the boss fights, even though the answer to that question is required to be no because Thief has never had forced direct engagements. This is starting to sound literally insane. No strategy involves this amount of maniacal suppression of any and all information.

With their current track record, I wouldn't be surprised if the answer was "no comment" if someone asked "Is Thief 4 in development?". Because actually saying what everyone knows is true would be a break in pattern. It would be information given. Eidos Montréal has an obsessive compulsive disorder.

Well it was just an example of an extremely easy question to answer, that they would hypothetically refuse to answer because of their insane fear of anyone finding out anything about what they are doing.
