Yes, I also fail to see the point in crafting. On a positive note though, I have been able to auction off items I've crafted for a decent amount of credits, so I suppose that's a plus. I'll probably continue to do that so I can fund my expensive Sith habits.

That's excellent. Business opportunities largely depend on how well GTN functions on your server. I must say that in the beginning, it was quite terrible on my server. It looked like people weren't using market at all, but luckily, it's beginning to grow. I guess it's because more and more players reach higher levels.

I caved and bought SWTOR this weekend and boy is it worth it. I have to say the first thing I noticed is that the game plays like a KOTOR game, not like an MMO which is very awesome. The one thing I hated about WoW and other MMOs is that I didn't feel like my character's story really mattered. Here, not true at all. I started out as a Jedi Knight of the Republic, and travelling on Tython to the point where I got my lightsaber felt like a life-long journey of its own. Everything I did felt important, and I always wanted to do whatever was pleasing to the Jedi Counsel.

It wasn't just a laundry list of tasks, either. I wanted to find the objects for the benefit of whatever village I was helping, or I wanted to destroy these rogue droids because they were desecrating sacred Jedi grounds. All in all, the story is fantastic, and the voice over work is extremely well done. I managed to get my character to level 17 after about 15 hours of playtime this weekend (I'm insane I know ) and the more I play it the more I want to play even longer.

The heroic areas are an interesting twist on group play, and I like that they are dailies and can be repeated with different groups. The contrast of difficulty with enemies is something that took me a bit to catch onto. I never could figure out how I couldn't fight 2 strong enemies that were the same level, but I could handle 4 pipsqueak enemies all the same without breaking a sweat. Now I have a better understanding, and I like this mechanic much better than just elite vs. non-elite.

After reaching level 10 I became a Jedi Sentinel (read arms warrior) and grabbed a second lightsaber to twirl about in combat. Now that I have a whole bunch of different dual weilding killing machine moves, combat is a sight to behold every time. I love just leaping into the fray from 30 yards out and wrecking everything in my path as the Jedi Knight in me is meant to believe it can do.

The only thing this game needs is the ability to TWIRL your weapons like in KOTOR. I would run around in that game twirling my weapons all day and that is something that must be added in future content patches

Welcome to the club, Nemesis.

I must say that you've probably picked the most difficult class to play in PvE.

Difficult, what do you mean? In terms of rotation, skills, damage, survivability? I have only died a few times and that's because I attempted to solo some elite enemies that I simply couldn't take down. I've had to take some emergency medpacks, but I'm used to the craziness of overwhelming battle thanks to KOTOR

It's very possible too that I'm just not far enough into the game to understand what this means. I know some games spike in difficulty after the half-way point (25 I guess)

Yes, difficult in terms of survivability while soloing. DPS Sentinels/Marauders do nicely in PvP, but from what I hear, they are extremely squishy when alone and questing, and they lack some important defense mechanisms other classes have. Like you said, the game basically skyrockets in difficulty after level 30 or so (virtually every quest will have you fight some kind of elite boss or pack of strongs). In fact, there have been so many complaints that BW is looking into it.

I like a challenge though. It almost seems that the game is too easy so far. I shouldn't be leveling more than once per hour (17 levels in just under 15 hours of gameplay). I haven't done any PvP yet, but honestly I would welcome it being a little harder to progress

Yay! Another one has come to the Dark...er...Light?...side!

I'm up to level 17.5 now. My companion has started to actually like me and I'm really twisting my storyline around. (Helping one set of baddies to go up against another set of baddies all while climbing the Sith corporate ladder) It's fun being a master manipulator. I'm rich though, so that's always good!

Is there a way to heal your companion in battle with a medpack? I can't for the life of me figure out how to use one on ol' Khem Val. Had I gone the sorcerer route, I would be a healer inherently, but alas, I did not go that route.

Why would you want to heal that.. thing .. anyway?

He's basically your tank and you're supposed to try and kill things before he dies. However... I am fairly sure you can't heal your companion with standard issue medpacks, but players who have Biochem as their crafting skill, can make special "medpacks" (called Tech Surgeon Med Unit) that can heal you as well as your companion. You can check GTN for them.

I wish you luck. Just for the record: I haven't actually played Knight class, and the stuff I said about the difficultly was from what I read in the forums. Maybe you'll experience no problems whatsoever, who knows. I also read that Knights (probably) have the best story in the game.

Hey! Just because he has "issues" doesn't mean I'm not compassionate. I kind of feel bad when he gets killed in a mob of seven enemies. He does tend to aggro everything and its brother, but hey, the meany kind of grew on me, what can I say?

Cool

Nice.

Ok, I am completely disappointed with Synthweaving. After reaching 400, I was like, "Finally, now I'll probably be able to craft something worthy" and sure thing, you can buy recipes for some really cool bracers and belts right from your trainer. BUT.. to craft them, you need a material available only through 16-men operation. And even you do this raid, there is no guarantee whatsoever that you'll get this crafting item (considering swtor's loot splitting system). This is, by the way, how it works for all crafting skills.

Well that's sure disappointing. Nothing like wasting your time on something, eh? I think my only crew skill I've increased on a regular basis is Archaeology; only because I'm able to gather materials when I'm out in the world on my missions, not because I send ol' Ugly to craft anything in particular.

Because I've had luck selling my lower crafted items in the marketplace, I really haven't been totally wasting my time with synthweaving, I suppose.

I figure when I hit level 50 (providing an expansion isn't out at that time). I'll devote time to crafting more. I won't have much to do otherwise.

I hate to break it to you, but all MMOs work like this when you get up to the highest level of crafting skills. They require the best mats in the game to make the crazy stuff, and usually that requires raids. Either you'll join a raiding guild which will be nice enough to let you have the mats you need, or you'll spend a small fortune on the GTN buying the stuff you need from guilds that farmed the mats in raids. Don't take that to mean it's pointless, but frankly I'm not surprised. There has to be some end-game benefit to crafting, otherwise it would allow anyone to create the best gear in the game. It's a fault that MMOs have had since the beginning of time.

Right, except it doesn't allow you to create the best gear in the game.. with or without the rare items. The best you can do is create a couple of items that are similar to those obtainable through daily commendations, raids and pvp.

Does anyone here think that they will be either eventually making SWTOR free to play (doubt it) or if they will ever release a KOTOR 3 (hell, a SWB 3 would be awesome as well).

It's not that big of a deal, as my cousin let's me use his account hahahaha.

SWTOR has had free weekends for the last few months, actually. You may want to give it a try.

Let me see what I have recent as far as my headshots. I do have the actual screen I took from the game. It should be high-res enough.

Talking

Well, I've established my official SWTOR legacy *and* finally created a second character.

Introducing Imperial Agent, Zett:

He's a Rattataki and pretty hot, IMO! (Gotta love a man with ink, right?).

So far, I'm finding it a bit odd adjusting to a gun-slinging toon. (I'm used to uber cool force powers). But he's pretty effective and I look forward to leveling him up. (He's currently a level 5).

And thanks to my good friend BLOWHARD's uber-awesome Photoshop skills (which do really put mine to shame), I introduce you to the *real* Sith Umah in my avatar.

And of course the less business-looking and more evil-looking versions:

^ I so want to do this for Halloween now.

Exclamation It's a dark time for the galactic republic...

Just a bit of an update on my SWTOR adventures.

As you may (or may not) know, SWTOR recently lost a ton of subscribers. (They nearly lost me as I had a crappy cable modem that prevented me from staying connected to their servers for longer than 5 minutes at time. ) I was able to rectify the issue by purchasing my own high-end modem to compensate for my cable company's lack of adequate equipment. ).

Anyhow, seeing as BioWare created a million servers when they launched back in December, the "realms" became scarcely populated - so much so that I'd be lucky to have 10 people on at any given time (including myself). Needless to say, this was brought to BW's attention and they've elected to rectify it by offering free server transfers to more populated realms (which will most likely lead to the deletion of less populated servers).

So, due to the fact I couldn't find a lot of people on my old server (Empress Teta) to participate in group missions etc. and my guild (who consisted of 2 of my characters and 3 of another individual I met) has been MIA for about 2 months, I elected to make the switch to "The Harbinger" server.

The pro(s) of taking advantage of the free SWTOR server transfer: The new server is uber populated so I may be able to partake in Heroics/Flashpoints etc. I was also able to secure the "Bloodomen" Legacy name. (I elected to go with "Shadowstar" prior as was suggested by one of my guild members).

Con(s) of taking advantage of the free SWTOR server transfer: I had to rename three of my characters (my Inquisitor and Smuggler being the two I *really* hated having to change). Yes, I lost both "Auryn" (who is now "Aurynflux" and "Umah" who is now "Vea".

Oh well, looking on the bright side, at least there are more people to mingle with. I'm really hoping to catch up with my former guild friend though. She was very cool.
