I have a problem. I don't understand...
I've been playing TRLE on my Mac G3 on the OS9 version for many years. Since most of the newest levels released are not compatible with Mac, I decided to buy an intel Mac, and install Windows on it. So I downloaded a level and tried to play it. You know, those who are "playable from download"... You don't need the editor to run these. But nothing happened when tried to start the game. ![]() I have an uncle who also has a macpro desktop unit with dedicated memory GPU intel Mac, I asked him to download the same level and try it to see if it would run on his computer, and it worked for him! I run a MacBook Pro 13" 2.7 i7, Intel HD Graphics 3000 shared with main memory. I read on the net that sometimes, level player application doesn't recognize the total video memory for integrated GPU and does not start as well. So, what can I do to solve this issue? Can I run a script or set a pref file to fool the video detect startup check?

1) What version of Windows?
2) Did you run the setup first?

It is Windows 7 64 bits. And I only have the Mac version of the editor. But since the levels are "playable from download", do I need the editor or TRLE setup? I know it is possible to download it from fan TR sites. Should I do that?

Being playable from download means you don't have to have the level editor installed in order to play the game. Sometimes it will play correctly as-is, but sometimes you might need to run the setup, as that is where you tell it what graphics and sound device to use.
To run the setup you will have to create a shortcut for the tomb4.exe. Then right click the shortcut and choose Properties. In the window that opens there should be a Shortcut tab. On that tab it should show the Target. You will need to add something to that text. At the very end of it, add a space and then the text "-setup", quotes are optional. Click the OK button. Now you can run the shortcut. It will go into setup mode so you can setup the graphics and sound. Then it will automatically go into the game. You only have to do this once. After that you can run it the normal way, without the shortcut. That way you don't have to do the setup every time. If this doesn't help, there might be something else wrong. But I think this will solve the problem.

^ Yup that should do it. That's exactly what I always do with stand-alone levels that don't come with a setup shortcut.

I progressed, I got the setup window. I can only select software acceleration, not the hardware one. But which screen resolution should I select and bit depth?

With software acceleration you should choose a lower resolution because it will be a little slow.
Try 800x600 and if that is too slow try 640x480. If you want to you could also try 1024x768 but it might be too slow. You can try with 32-bit depth but if it is slow change it to 16-bit. I would probably try it in this order: 800x600 32-bit 640x480 32-bit 800x600 16-bit 640x480 16-bit

Ok, I'll try that, and if it doesn't work, I don't know. It might be something else...
