Here's what's up
Last night I'm playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which I've been waiting ten years for, and my graphic card blows up- for all intensive purposes. It was a 7600, and I guess it just got too hot. So I went to see an old friend today, and got my old card off him-an ATI 1600. I figured it would never run the game, and expected it to just hold me over for a couple weeks till I could get a 9800, or something. To my surprise the game ran after I installed the 1600 and the associated drivers. Not only did it run, but it ran dam well. It even ran alright when I turn the specs up.........except for one thing. When I go to hack a terminal the option to hack it isn't there. It can't be seen. It doesn't even look like something should be in its place. No choppy graphics or anything. If you click around you can hit the button, the invisible one anyway, and get into the mini game. The hacking game itself is pitch black, can't see a thing. I've tried tweaking the settings, mainly the dept perspective, and I haven't had the slightest change in results. I know the card isn't preferable, but I have a hard time accepting that it's an issue with the GPU considering the game runs so well. The tutorial videos appear to use the same engine as the hacking game, and they run fine.I hope someone can help. I've looked around other forums, but apparently there's a hacking glitch that allows you to exploit xp. So that's what everyone is talking about. Thank You in advance for sharing any ideas. |

Thanks, I'll give it a try. It didn't do it with my other card. That little hack game doesn't seem like it would be that graphic intensive. I was also thinking about reinstalling the game. I think my card blew while I was in Detective Chandlers computer. It might be possible that it damaged the program in some small way.

I had this problem during release week. Strangely enough it just disappeared by itself after a few days... Hopefully the patch will help though.

No the patch didn't fix it. I'm running drivers that where released in 2006. I'd update them, but when I go to run the ati release, "10-2_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc.exe," it says it hasn't passed the windows driver signing list.
I tried saying the hell with it on a computer at school, and it didn't turn out good. So you had the same problem Locutus of BORG? Or was it just similar? What are your specs? B/c I know if your running a high end system then it's probably not my GPU. |

Updated x1600 drivers and got it to work. A great, "Triumph of the will!
" I'm amazed that a card that was released in 2006 runs this game so smoothly. I know it's no where near the most demanding game on the market, but still. I'm glad a got this GPU back, should have never sold it. Then again, I should have never bought a computer with an AGP port.Thank You guys for your help. |
