Just registered myself to say thanks for this incredible screen saver, as well for asking if more information could be displayed on the HUB, but once again, THANKS.

The screensaver installation fails silently if the Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 has not been installed. An error message might be better.

It would be cool to have the log-in screen changed with a hack option that is impossible to complete unless you choose the right sequence of nodes (i.e. 100% detection rate on the wrong nodes).

Resize them any way you like. If you want wallpaper with the shimmery stuff on top as well though, it might be easier just to run the screensaver and capture it with Fraps, then set that as the wallpaper.
Is there any way to get the shimmery stuff alone?

When I execute the SCR file, it runs as expected, but when I set it as my screensaver and leave the computer idle, when the screensaver tries to run, I get the error:

Quote:
DXSCRE~1.SCR - .NET Framework Initialisation Error

Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application.
and the screensaver does not appear.

This is excellent as hell, but I'd echo the call for multi-monitor functionality with a bit of extra info toward achieving that.

Unfortunately I suspect native multi-monitor functionality would be very difficult to achieve, since the only screensavers I've seen with support for it are the type that just stretch to span the entire resolution of the desktop(s). With each screen being its own entity, you'd have to manually detect the sizes and edges of the screen and probably a pile of other stuff that will end up being way more trouble than its worth.

However! Due to the subpar multi-monitor support in Windows 7 a lot of people are using helper utilities like UltraMon and DisplayFusion. These allow you to set individual screensavers for each monitor. This method leaves two issues. First, this screensaver does not like the idea of running two instances simultaneously and crashes immediately. Second, as screensaver settings are all called from the same location, it's impossible to set it so that one screen runs the original saver while another runs the security variant, for example.

A solution to the second issue would be splitting the normal and security editions into their own savers. I have no idea about the crashing problem, except to add that none of the default savers suffer this problem, so it does look to be a specific issue with this.

I'm using UltraMon to manage my monitors and it has a screensaver manager but for some reason this one doesn't show up in the screensaver list. Any ideas why?

Great screensaver by the way.

Great screensaver by the way.
Have to put the screensaver in the systems file, same where the other Windows Screen Savers are. Then set it to the UltraMon in the normal SS selector.

Ive been trying to find a away around to play it on both screens, but so far no luck.

Also, Kudos on the screen saver, it is sick, i have it on my laptop.

Could we get those files just in high-resolution .WMV files? Then I could set them as my animated desktop background!

(Bump) This is an amazing screensaver, but I lost my copy in a hard drive wipe and the download links he's provided have gone dead. Can someone reupload them?

This is the version I had installed:

http://dxhr.nanoaugur.net/DXScreensaver.scr

I'm not exactly sure which version it is, though. I do know it's not the debug one I had to use for a while to figure out my issues since it's not showing the messages.

edit: I did find two copies of another version which are about 50k smaller and are dated 3 months earlier - one of them has the debug info turned on. So I'm guessing the uploaded version is the latest.

Thats pretty neat. I created one as well. Works as a screensaver or regular animated wallpaper.
