@ENBSeries - Your post was informative and interesting, particularly in regards to the stuttering issue which I'm experiencing. The modified SSAO in the screenshot looks vastly superior to the original; more like what it should look like, in fact. Shame that people like you have to fix issues that shouldn't be there in the first place though...

Seriously, you should be working in games development if you aren't already. The games industry needs talented people like you IMO. Have you tried asking Eidos for a job?

I think the SSAO issue is entirely down to taste.. The SSAO used in the pc version is `technically` more accurate, whereas people do like the more exaggerated form that the ps3/360 employs.. Each to their own in that respect..

What does that mean really? SSAO looks horrendous on my system. It looks like some kind of smoky haze with a blotchy pattern in it, and follows my camera when I turn. Normal looks slightly better than high, because the aforementioned pattern is a bit blurred and not so visible, but it also introduces vertical lines on some surfaces (which also follow my view). It's incredibly distracting and I prefer to turn it off entirely. Proper SSAO can look gorgeous though, but I have no idea what the SSAO in DX:HR is supposed to be.

Edit: Before you ask, 280.26 drivers

Here they are. The patterns you see where SSAO is supposed to be, follow the camera when moving.

    SSAO High: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/54...CB83C42B45D93/
    SSAO Normal: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/54...03375F1C37B46/
    SSAO Off: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/54...8EB1971752725/

Vertical SSAO Artifacts. Left wall. Also follow the camera in the same manner. I've only seen these with the normal SSAO setting, but have been told by an another user on the forums that they're also present in the PS3 version:

    http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/54...CF04E2554A4F2/

Any word on if I'm experiencing a bug, or if it's actually supposed to look this bad will be greatly appreciated . This isn't "different" or "technically more accurate", it's an abomination .

More accurate or realistic doesn't always translate well to videogames in my experience and given the exaggerated stylised visuals that DX:HR uses the modified SSAO definitely looks much better. The environments look less bland and shadows look richer/more prominent. The current implementation of SSAO is far too subtle IMO, not to mention 'bitty', and doesn't look "right" compared with other games that use it.

As you say though... "each to their own"...

Please, let's have a look at my unofficial patch for "stuttering", by measures it helps to fix the problem partially. Download it from http://enbdev.com/enbseries_deusex3_...cheimplant.zip and read included txt file.

About SSAO. Actually it is not any way closer to realistic math and it's applied to objects incorrectly (most multiply all computed colors, including specular f.e.). I never saw any game where it was done correctly, that's why no realism. So it's only the matter of taste which one somebody prefer. Unfortunately, in DeHR it's just cost of performance and nothing else (i mean PC version). Other bad truth is that a lot of shader color operations are incorrect by all meaning, so who cares how SSAO applied then?

Recently did performance speedup, from 41 to 75 fps. Damn, is that my priority to fix games? Urrrrr!

Boris, I tested out your ENB cache fix. It definitely seemed to eliminate the stutter once the cache for an area had been dumped. Obviously it still stutters upon entering a new area for the first time, but once that area has a cache built up the stutter is gone. I still need to test it more thoroughly though. Thank you.

This is amazing. It's a huge improvement for sure.

The only thing that's a little bothering is that the game takes a lot longer for me to start up. Takes about 30 seconds until the intro starts playing. I hope that's something you are able to address in future developments. Thanks so much for making this! Truly excellent work.

Woa, without disabling anything, just improving shader code effectiveness?

is there a possibility to make a patch that allows the console versions to be able to change the opacity of the HUD like in the Deus Ex for the original XboX? I as well as alot of gamers have HD tv's and the constant bright static hud can/ is causing some burn in our tv's. If that could be made that would be excellent! Other than that, great game Eidos!

Default Things I'd like to see fixed

Well, after my first playthrough I've noticed some things I'd like to see improved. BTW, enjoying ENB's stuttering fix now (speed implant v0084), but some little things that come up a lot are getting annoying:

    1. Grenades. Gas grenades especially, they seem to affect at most two people? So even if I lob one at a group of people, only two of them go down. I've tried it a few times, but the same thing happened every time. Does the AI cheat or is this a bug?
    2. Map zoom. It would be nice if you could zoom out more and pan quickly around. Now since I can't zoom out much, I often have to drag the mouse a lot to pan the map to whatever I actually want to see. Oh, and it would be nice if I could put markers and notes on the map like you could in old System Shock 2, for example. Something, "left some beer here" or "level 5 safe here" and so on.
    3. XP notification after successfully hacking a computer. It's huge and covers part of the email! And it stays on so long...

    ↑↑!!THIS!!↑↑

I played the game on DirectX11 and all setting maxed, SSAO does looks like some kind of smoky haze with a blotchy pattern and it does follows my camera wherever it turns, which i found extremely weird, i somehow just forgot about it. I am more annoyed with the low music volume in the game. Could you please increase the music volume or something. Even when its maxed the goddamn music volume is still too damn low! Please make the music at least as loud as the speech or sfx volume when its maxed so i could control the music volume without having to turn down the sfx and speech volume and cranking up my speaker. This is very annoying!!

Anyway my spec is, intel i7 2600k with 16gig ddr3 and GTX 560 Ti and yes i'm using 280.26

I decided to make a video to show the weird SSAO effect that i was talking about. You could see the weird effect more clearly starting on 01:20.

I'm pretty sure uploading the video to youtube will decrease the quality a lot and make it hard to see the weird ssao fx that i was talking about, so i decide to just give the link to the video instead.
