So, I've gone through this first playthrough trying not to kill anyone, and have been managing fine so far. Until my second time in Detroit, that is. Because I convinced Wayne Haas to let me into the morgue the first time, he appears at my door and pulls a gun on me. I immediately reacted with Q and knocked him out, pulled him to my bathroom and left him there. I played through the entire hub, ready to get to Sarif HQ with Malik, and by chance I notice that Haas lies dead in my apartment.
I figure I might've held Q too long and killed him, even though I was sure I didn't. Begrudgingly, I play through the entire hub again with the exact same choices as last time, since I'm trying not to kill anyone. I make sure Haas has the z-icon when I leave him in my bathroom. When I come back to fly off with Malik, he's dead again. I am not sure exactly 'when' he dies, but if this counts as if I've killed him, it should get fixed asap. I can send save files before and after the incident if you need. |

You don't have to knock him down at all, though you probably need the social enhancer to do it (or it might be related to how you convinced him earlier too, dunno).
Either way, in my case I was able to resolve the situation by offering the guy a job, through the use of the enhancer options I think... and he never pulled a gun on me. |

He doesn't even want to talk to me. He just pulls the gun immediately. I used the social enhancer on him the first time I saw him, and crushed him pretty good with that, so I assume that you may get multiple outcomes. I've noticed that the way I convince people with the social enhancer, it often feels like I'm forcing them. I've been wondering if it's better to not use the enhancer at all at times, compared to convincing them without it. I got it early on and just always used it, regardless of gaining influence the legit way. As I see it now, it should only be used as a panic button when you're losing influence.
I'm thinking I should just try and run out to prevent fighting him at all, but I will need to play through the entire second Detroit part again. The bug is there and should be fixed regardless. I'm just hoping that I don't currently have any similar cases of the same bug, which I've failed to notice. |
