    Default Crash during cutscenes

Been having an odd problem that I can't figure out for the life of me, I'll start the game as normal but if I try to watch the cutscene eventually my game will crash into a full system reboot. The real odd thing is if I skip the cutscene I can play the game with no troubles at all until I reach the next big cutscene at the end of the tutorial.

    I am running with:
    Core i7 CPU 920 2.67GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
    6gb ram
    Windows 7 x64

Updated drivers and direct x and still nothing and I'm almost to the point where I just nuke the thing from orbit and format the whole drive . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did also verify the cache

    Default Same here!

I have a very similar system and I have the same problem. Cinematics will hard lock my machine in random places. I've reloaded the game, verified the cache and tried multiple display options with no change.

    My system is:
    i7-920 2.67
    6gb ram
    GTX 295 w/latest drivers 280.26
    Win 7 64bit

    Anybody have any ideas?

i have the same issues with the crashes
some things i have noticed when vcredist_x86 installs it places a bunch of files in the main C:\directory
i can only guess that this isn't where these files should be going.
Also while I'm play when the game crashes is usually when i pick up a box is usually when it happens to me.
seems to happen on a right click to drop the box then it crashes.

My pc specs are as follows
    Asus Maximus Extreme IV Rev
    i72600k
    4gb of g.skill DDR3 1866mhz ram
    Corsair HX750 power supply
    Raid0
Ati HIS HD 5830 Turbo w/latest Drivers
    windows 7 ultimate

I am having the EXACT same issue, except this occurred on the very first dialog option I faced. I retried three times (got a crash back to desktop each time, no error message) before picking the option on the right - that worked fine. Very next conversation (with Malik), I chose the left option again and it crashed back to the desktop, no error message.

I'm also using the Steam version.

Same issues here - I can barely ever use a saved game (either auto-save or manual) and such, haven't made it past the first cut-scene after getting thrown through the window. I did just get a auto-save to load correctly, died again and now am crashing when I try to load the *exact* same auto-save.

Saving games appears to work normally, but given that I can *rarely* load any saved game, DE:HR is effectively unplayable for me. I'm a Steam User and have tried disabling Cloud Sync as well as playing in Offline mode and starting the DE:HR client as an administrator. Nothing I've tried has worked.

Please take a look at this issue and issue a fix or give us a workaround as quickly as possible! You've got a great game here from all account and I'd love to be able to play it.

This just started happening to me about 15 minutes ago, after Steam installed an update for the game. I'm trying to talk to O'Malley and any option that is top or left on the dialogue selection crashes the game to desktop. I'm about 10 hours in playing time according to Steam.

Same here! So glad it's not just me!
I've ran into occasional stuttering on cutscenes, but other than that, I'm running at almost constant 60 FPS w/ vsynch enabled.

Other than OS and motherboard manufacturer, I have completely different specs than you as well:

AMD Athlon II X4 630 Processor 2.8 GHz
    Asus M4A79XTD EVO mobo
    8 GB Corsair RAM
    W7 Ultimate x64
NVIDIA GTX460 768 MB, newest drivers as of mid August 2011
DX11 mode with many settings at normal or high, AA on 2xFSAA, 1920x1200 res, 8x anisotropic filtering, SSAO normal, shadows normal

I'm using onboard Audio, which is a Realtek AC97 codec

I have figured out through using the Steam console that Deus Ex is quitting out by itself for completely no reason other than what I assume could be a CEG-related problem. It is just closing out rather than saying that it has encountered a problem.

    From the steam console:

Game removed: AppID 28050 "Deus Ex - Human Revolution", ProcID 6736

I hope you can get this fixed soon.

This seems to happen on Steam after sometimes played... I hope this is gonna be patch or something because the left dialog option is often the one who make us leave the dialog and if we can't leave one dialog... this is gonna be a long game xD...

Default Game crashes and freezes (XBox 360)

I've been playing on a brand new copy of the game, and at some parts or actions taken, the game will freeze. One would be if I were to use the wall smashing skill in the sewer, it would result in a freeze. Another is at Derelict Row, when trying to sneak past the gangsters next to the containers on the way to the antennae by holding the "cover" (Default: L trigger) button. Next up is during Highland Park, when first talking to the black gangster to buy/sell guns/intel.

    So what the hell guys.

Edit: I've also cleared the cache multiple times.

Edit2: found a fix around the Highland Park gun seller. Just get a cutscene first by walking into the building on the left and going back to him. But still, what the hell guys.

Edit 3: Now the game freezes when I try to enter the Youzhou district. I can seriously find no work arounds this time.

    Hi.

I've been helping Renda determine the cause of the issue, and it's indeed tied to Steam's CEG.

When the game exits, it exits with the exit code 0x8000DEAD, this is a trademark exit code for when CEG terminates the process due to an issue in the DRM handling. My limited knowledge on how CEG functions tells me that this can occur when calls to Steamworks_TestSecret or Steamworks_SelfCheck fail, but this shouldn't be happening for a legit copy of the game.

He has a Steam purchased copy that is exiting with this error code every time he reaches the menu.

I know this isn't really a ideal place for putting a support ticket, but this issue should definitely be elevated to the QA team or hopefully the developers so that it can get fixed.

For anyone else out there that's simply having their game exit out without a crash, you can confirm if you're having this same issue by creating a batch file with the following contents in "Steam\steamapps\common\deus ex - human revolution":

    @echo off
    set errorlevel=
    dxhr.exe
    echo error level %errorlevel%
    pause
Additionally, you'll need a file in the same directory called steam_appid.txt, with the contents: 28050

Double click the batch file and wait for your game to exit out, and check the command prompt that appears.

If you're seeing an error level of "-2147426643", you're indeed experiencing an issue with Steam's DRM.

tl;dr - This game's CEG DRM is being hella retarded.

I'm having a similar problem but slightly different. I get no message that the game failed to load, crashed, etc.

Instead, the icon in the lower right stops spinning when the game is loading. I've waited for some time for the game to load, but the game never loads. This issue will not happen for several loads then happen consistently for the next 4 or so loads.

Watching the intro and not being able to skip it + load times is annoying enough for me to jump on this forum and look for a solution.

ALL my drivers are up to date. My HD is CLEAN.

Is anyone else having similar problems? Have you found a solution? Please, let me know if you do =)

    The basics:
Running an MSI GTX 560 Ti.
    i5 2500k
    8GB of DDR3

The point that I'm at in the game it is completely unplayable. It wasn't doing this earlier in the game and just started doing it on this one NPC and now does it on the rest. I don't know what triggered it but I believe it has something to do with this update that Steam did.

ok think i managed to figure out this problem.
I created a short cut to the desktop for dxhr.exe
changed compatibility to windows xp sp2, disable visual themes, disable display scaling on high dpi settings
the fix that seem to make it work was under the shortcut tab set run to Minimized so far so good.
Run is normally listed as Normal window
I also adjusted some of the file permissions don't know if that mattered any.
but i have found problems with windows 7 are usually related to permission problems in my experiences.
    i also changed my game resolution to 1280 x 1024 i think.
no crash since these changes i have made glad i didn't have to reinstall my pc though what a PITA that is, lol

Default Fix for at least some crashes

    Turn off DX11.

So far that has fixed a constantly occurring crash when exiting the 1st elevator in the Warehouse level (really frustrating and almost game breaking crash). As well, it stopped all random crashes that occurred while wandering around the Detroit hub. As a side note, my videocard is an Nvidia GT540M, with the latest drivers.

I hope Eidos is working on a fix for this DX11 issue and will release it soon.

Looks like perhaps the patch/hotfix broke the conversation mechanics for some people?

My game is playable, but I can only choose two of the four options, which kinda limits my ability to play the game.

    My rigs is as follows:
    Windows 7 x64 SP1
    Intel i7-920
    Gigabyte GA-EX58 UD5
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 470, driver v280.26

No crash dump, so I can't offer any details. This happens every time for me, no exceptions.

Some one from Eidos please check out this thread:

    http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=119843

It is a major game-breaking bug for the people it affects (many steam users?). Basically, the game crashes to the desktop with no error message when either the left most of upper most dialog option is selected.

Why are so many bugs on the PC prelavent.... I mean come on they said themselves they were focusing on the PC experience, or was it they never bothered checking to see how the game played through Steam? <- highly likely me thinks

Steam is a `platform` on the PC, you cannot play the game outside of this, and neither can we.

    Default Game Radomly Minimizing Itself/Crashing

So, DX:HR is minimizing itself randomly(15-40min intervals?), with no warning, without any event I can perceive which initiates it. Sometimes it just plain crashes. Oddly enough when it's minimized itself I can still hear audio continuing unaffected. I can fire my weapon and hear it fire in that state. I cannot interact with the desktop unless I alt+tab to a program at which point the game crashes.

My first reaction to these events was to look for a program causing Deus Ex to minimize. I manually put Norton on silent mode and disabled Malwarebytes protection. With neither of those helping I started to look at running processes, by habit, only to see what I should expect, no abnormal processes. Unfortunately I cannot say definitively whether or not this issue is exclusive to Deus Ex as I did a clean install of Windows not but a few days ago. While I have not noticed any issue playing BFBC2 or Oblivion I should put in some lengthy sessions before ruling out other possibilities.

System Summary. GA-MA770-UD3, 4gb G.Skill ddr2-800, Corsair HX850 psu, PII X4 940 @3.3, GTX 570 Superclocked, 1tb WD Cav Black, Clean install of W7-64 Ultimate, graphics driver 280.26, temps are fine.

Tomorrow I'll do further testing. I'll put 4hrs or so into Oblivion. Then I'll play DX:HR and disable what programs I do have running which are not essential and might be causing issues although it is worth noting that all of these programs ran without issue before the clean install and caused no issues while gaming.

Have you installed the game to HD or running off disc?

After all, the game came out yesterday so I think we should let them the time to correct those bugs even if in this time i can't play cause this bug make the game unplayable (or near)
