Hm turns out it didn't fix all the stuttering, only when aiming with the gun.
Cityhubs still have frame skips or something, can't really explain it but you notice it...

I don't remember the leak having this issue

I've tried moving the game install to my SSD; no improvement.

I wouldn't mind so much if the game was graphically ground-breaking but in all honesty, and even with all options maxed, it looks average at best.

I have managed to make the game somewhat playable by reverting to older nvidia drivers. Still get some stutter, but now it's not gamebreaking. However, I'm also still having the issue where video just doesn't play fairly often.

Any update on how it's going on the developers/NIXXES site with a coming fix?

I also tried downgrading to an older driver, i used the 270.61 nvidia driver.
The periodic stutters you get at the same places when walking around, are mostly gone!
The FPS is a little lower, and less smooth. But there is almost no more stutter for me.
Much more playable.
I'm going to try some different drivers, but it seems to be a driver issue.

Specs:
Intel i7 2600K @4.0ghz
16GB @ 1800mhz
570 GTX
Intel SSD X-25M RAID0 (2 disks)

*EDIT*

Tried allot of drivers, it just stutters a little less with older drivers, but it'still there

Dude thats the thing, lower fps makes the stuttering less noticeable. Go get fraps and set it to record at 30fps locked framerate, now record ingame, your fps will be solid 30 and itl feel slow/laggy abit, but the stuttering is mostly eliminated. I tried it and i dont stutter at the spots i always stutter at, i know it still is stuttering tho, but its not noticeable cause of the lower fps.

Default Screen flickering

Objects in the game will keep flickering to all yellow then back to their normal color.

The 266 drivers were darn good, better than the 270. 265 is the most all around stable by far. Try those two. Helped a lot but my stutter problems are still unreasonable, especially when plugging in a controller and using that is super smooth and removes all the stuttering. (Unbelievable)

My roommate, like many of you, was suffering from this mysterious stuttering. Like an elusive ninja he tried everything to find the cause of it, but failed miserable. Every time he loaded a game it ran slower than a turtle’s turd and then smoothed out, with spot stuttering here and there.

Like any good friend I decided to use his computer as a guinea pig and tried every special move I could muster. After many, many, many attempts, I have resolved his issue. Now as a disclaimer this might not work for everyone, but it worked for his specific rig.

Specs are:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU
4GB RAM (I think it’s Gskill)
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 (with latest drivers)
Vista 64-bit Service Pack 2 w/ all hot fixes

1) First thing I did was update Vista with all the service packs and hot fixes (not sure if this actually helped, but it was something I did, he had only service pack 1).

2) I saw that DX11 was in red while he played the game??? His card supported DX11, but windows would not update it to 11? Why windows! Why! Here a hot fix was released for it called Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB971512). Two version exist, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit.

3) Now one of two things can be done next. Either you check to see if it updated to DX11 or you run the DX update if it didn’t.

4) When I started up the game I enabled DirectX 11 and it ran fine. (Tessellation was not on)

I’m assuming that the issue some people are having has to do with DirectX I noticed some people had already mentioned this, but after poking and prodding around I think some of those people are right. Now again this might not work for everyone, I just wanted to show what I did to fix it.

Good luck to all of you, and hopefully a patch for the game will come out soon.

Most of us are running Windows 7, and Vista Hotfixes are already applied in windows 7 in installation im afraid.
Updating Directx and vc_redistx86 from deus ex folder does absolutely nothing for me.

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. We cannot fix this. I'm convinced that there are no configs that will work. I'm sticking with my contention that there are many, MANY people out there with this problem who we haven't heard from yet.

I'm confused and this thread is getting too long to peruse. Are they working on a patch for this?

Default and another...

Windows 7 32-bit
4GB (so 3.25GB)RAM, pagefile on HD (also tried 2GB and 3GB combos just for the hell of it as I was adding 2GB more at the time)
P5N-E Sli with an E6600 oc'ed to 2.7GHz, also tried stock 2.4GHz
GTX560Ti with 280.26 drivers (and some earlier ones),
game and OS on OVZ 120GB SSD (Steam on HD, but game MKLINK /J-ed)
Turned everything up, and down - the game stutters and will crash when one item (resolution?) first turned down (with driver issue bug reported elsewhere here)
Tried disconnecting 'net (to see if it was adverts); tried running Steam on core 1 only at lower priority;
uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, and dropping back a version or two as mentioned above; tried the 'force performance power management on' tweak. Stuck running it in DX9 due to a driver/windows 7 issue regarding my card not being DX11! but did get DX11 running (before PC restart) and DX11 also stutters.

WOW that was a real eye opener.

Updating video driver and DirectX... who would have thought of that??

That's even better than downloaded new BIOS/made sure my PC is turned ON stuff

This issue has absolutely nothing to do with an error on the user side. It is a BUG on developer side, and it needs to be fixed ASAP.

It is an unbelievable disservice by EIDOS to their community to let an issue as big as this stand without making any official statement about whether and when it is going to be fixed.

Add me to the stuttering club. The city/hub portions of the game are virtually unplayable because they stutter so badly. No combination of settings I've tried helps. Dropping down to DX9 and the lowest settings actually makes the stuttering worse. I don't think this is anything we can fix on our end. The developer will need to patch the game. I won't be buying anything from Square Enix or Eidos in the future unless this is fixed. It's an incredibly annoying and distracting bug that never should have made it into a finished product. Seriously, how did they miss this? This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Well, since I'm fed up with this problem not being addressed, I have created a petition just to see how many people really have this problem and want to see it fixed. You can view the petition here. Please distribute and share as you like:

I signed the petition.

Do the developers even read these forums? This thread has almost 30,000 views and yet I haven't seen any kind of announcement about this issue.

I've registered on this forum just to add my voice to so many others who have this stutter\lag problem. I have retail PC version of the game.
My rig is this:
Intel E8600
4 Gb DDR2 RAM
GTX 580
Asus P5B-E
Creative X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Chamption
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Resolution: 1980x1080

The rig is not hi-end but it allowed me to play all new games on max settings without any lagging. Up until DS:HR. Drivers and DX are up to date. Tweaking\lowering the game settings or turning to DX9 instead of DX11 has no effect whatsoever. The stutter\lagging mainly and persistently appears in city hubs, less so in smaller areas.

Devs, please fix this problem ASAP, it's annoying as hell and badly ruins the game immersion.

I don't know. Does anyone really think they'll fix this? The game has been out almost two weeks with no acknowledgement from the devs that there's a problem. And single player games like this rarely get the same kind of attention in terms of updates as multiplayer games. I hate to say this, but I think we all got shafted out of $50.

Good idea, please post this on other popular gaming forums too, like Steam

The more this petition is distributed, the better. Share the link on your Facebook, twitters, post it wildly in forums, and so on:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/DEHRStut/petition.html

Sadly I don't have the permission to post on the Steam forums yet, I just registered. Please post it there if you can!

Don't be a drama queen.

They'll fix it if they can find out what's causing it. Give them time, it's obviously not something super simple or it would have been fixed by now. I also want this to be fixed as I get the stuttering too, but spamming them with stupid petitions won't speed it up.

would you try renaming the EXE file like i suggested in an earlier post, I would like to know somebody tried it.

"dxhr.exe to conviction_game.exe"

its a longshot, but hey maybe it works for some.

Stuttering aswell. Game runs butter smooth usually, but stutters immensely when attempting to stream in new areas (which it does way too often, I can literally outrun the engine :\ ).
