Haha, it's certainly ironic in the name. I think the EG is like a cross between an amorphous ameba and a squid/octopus. It's a mesh of eyes and tentacles and flesh that coat things oddly and protrude from all manner of things and cracks, and walls, ceilings, floors, lol. It's a mess, is what it is.

I'd take a bit of Cthulhu into account as well.

3 out of 4 marine biologists agree it's a creepy little dude.
This fishy has been on television shows too that instantly reminded me of big boy. The wierd world of the deep that he swims in could have also been the inspiration for our underworld. Somebody on the game staff must have googled vampire and saw the squids and said hey let's include this in the series. then they said Where's my paycheck! because I just slapped down a huge jelly onto vampland and rocked your world, N.Goth! Then somebody else shushed him/her and asked "Could you please at least try to sound more gothic like the rest of us when you talk?" |

It wasn't time for you to learn this yet! Now the timeline has been changed and the planet will spin off into chaos. It's already starting! --> Subway now offers a parfait for dessert, which has always been KFC's thing.
The Call of Cthulwho is fine and all, but don't forget to read At the Mountains of Madness to see where LOK got the inspiration for all those lovely MURALS! And The Colour OUt Of SPace is just super weird. |

You can also read up on Gnosticism religious orders for more insight on what the influence is on the Sarafan, Nosgoth, the Material Realm, possibly also the Elder God, and more.

Anyway, nice research! a vampire squid! the mysteries of the abysses are quite amazing! a whole new world hidden from our sight, with unique creatures... EG was burrowed in submerged places as well: it's clearly a water creature... so perhaps that was the source of inspiration!

Seriously, I think he is. At least in SR2, his tentacle appearance and eye shape resemble the O. vulgaris quite a bit (I studied that species during my degree). They might even have used one as reference for his basic textures.
![]() Defiance chucks all that out of the window, though. |

Yes that's true. Before LOK Defiance we always saw EG as a squid-body lodged in the crevice of some underground cavern, taking up finite space in the earth.
In Defiance EG shows up "here and everywhere, now and always," much more like a growth or an amoeba, as TheHylden mentioned earlier. Strangely enough though even while playing Soul Reaver 2 I got the strong impression that the Elder God was more of a sentient fungus! http://www.biog1105-1106.org/demos/1.../fungi.2a.html As quoted in this forum, "(Through most of history people have feared fungi. Once regarded as the work of evil spirits or the devil, even in our enlightened era they're still treated with suspicion in much of the western world)" Read more: http://morgellonsgroup.proboards.com...#ixzz1v4EPElFG During Raziel's conversations with EG in SR2 I was reminded of a scary illustration I saw in a book of a white root-structure under the mulch that trapped earthworms and devoured them, and I thought that the EG was kind of like one of those fungi, hiding under the earth and draining the vitality of the world. |

cp666, please do not post names (then veritably suggest by saying "No, don't google if..." that people google the name) of such graphic things here. Posting something, then telling someone NOT to look for it, is the same thing as telling someone up on a high point off of the ground not to look down.
Please refer to the Terms of Use here regarding No posting of ANY kind of any pornographic, or suggestive material. Thank you.

I read this really trippy book one time. It said that the entire kingdom of Fungi (all the mushrooms, etc.) didn't evolve on earth but were alien life forms that crash landed on earth inside meteorites. When people abused mushrooms to get high, the hallucinations they had were more than just hallucinations---those people were tapping in to the thought patterns of this alien invasion of our ecosystem. Because fungi roots are like sentient dendrites spread through the earth. There was some kind of giant self-aware fungal root system that had grown underneath all of Australia, infesting the land, and it was on track to eventually control everything like EG. Its kind of life took over from the soil up.

The author ate his share of mushrooms to think that up, didnt he? If its not true, dude's just a paranoid stoner. Even if it is true, he wouldn't have come up with it if he wasn't tapped into alien thought patterns.
I assumed a fungus army would thrive somewhere cool and wet. Not Australia. But I'm not a mushroom. Interesting story though. |

Maybe this guy wrote it:![]() I'm sure it's just meant to be fiction and the author doesn't really believe that. If he did, however, that would be pretty hilarious.
