Can I just say, some people have been questioning PC Gamer in terms of their review score history...well...

...OPM who gave it an 8/10, which some are disappointed in...gave Homefront 9/10.......

...yup that wooshing noise you just heard was OPM's credibility flying out of the window behind you at close to the speed of sound...

I'm thinking/hoping this is going to be an absolute classic. The 8/10 from OPM is quite possibly down to the fact that the reviewer was under 13 years of age. Just speculating...

Homefront is one of the worst games I have ever had the misfortune to play. It IS Call of Duty, no matter how different it made itself out to be. I've spent most of my day seeing what /v/'s opinion on the reviews are, it's largely just been "10/10? ENJOY YOUR CASUAL GAME CONSOLE KIDDIES" and "94%? PRE ORDER CANCELED CONFIRMED FOR CASUAL" It's quite funny seeing the occasional stupid person in the thread assume they are actually completely serious and get really, really mad.
Might as well also mention the "Which game are you most excited for" threads, which HR seems to be doing quite well in. So well done on gaining some of /v/'s support.

You do all realise that more than one person works for each of these magazines, right?

So we have,

PC Gamer: 94%
OPM: 80%
OXM: 100%

I'm guessing it'll fall in the 85-95 Range on metacritic...

If I may quote Fox89 from the other thread:

"Glad to see OXM giving it 10/10! People keep saying 10/10 should only be reserved for perfect games, and I disagree. By that logic there should never have been a 10/10 game in the history of the world. It isn't a perfect score it is a maximum score. If a Formula One driver earns 25 out of a possible 25 points in a race, that doesn't mean he was flawless. It means he was better than everyone who scored lower than him on any given race.

It's a similar thing here. A maximum score doesn't suggest it is without flaw, but that the overall experience is pretty much as good as video games get, despite those flaws. I am exceedingly excited by the scores so far. I played the leak, I admit, and I honestly don't think Square Enix will have needed to bribe anyone."

Guys my friend just texted me and said that the Play UK review also gave Deus Ex a 10/10.

He's sending me the scans as we speak.

Oh I agree. It's just you know how some people are with review scores. It's either a 9, or a 10, or no buy at all.

No surprise. This game is going to be the first "real" Deus Ex for consoles.

Too bad PC gamers had to wait 10 years before they can actually try and relate to console gamers.

Actually, the PC version will still be better. We have adjustable fov, inventory HUD closer to original, oh... and we have mouse and keyboard...

But it's fair to say, 75% < 8/10 < 85%, so it's also fair to take 80% as a midpoint. 10/10 is a bit more contentious since technically you can't offer above 100%, so 95% < 10/10 < 100%, so perhaps 97.5% might be a better estimate

How do metacritic evaluate /10 scores?

97.5% is an awesome average, I hope IGN acts right and doesn't mess it up!

Actually, I thought the original's port to PS2 was fantastic. It smoothed off some edges that were better left in place, but it really kept the core experience intact in almost every way. Give it a look if you haven't.

And I'd just like to congratulate the devs on the great scores the game has been getting thus far. Looking forward to seeing more praise in the coming weeks
