Default Thief: The complete collection!

I found this offer the other day on play.com:
Thief: The complete collection for only 3.99 GBP!

Its perfect if you want to play through them all again before Thief 4 is released, or a perfect gift if you want to get a friend hooked on thief.

Play.com has free deliverly within europe so you wont have to fork out for delivery.

Use wwww.xe.com if you want to check what 3.99 GBP is in your countrys currency.

I don't like the TDS-cover being the main focus on the box art. There should be one of the less popular artworks there. Like the Thief 2 splash screen where Garrett looks down from rooftops.

And is it a DVD-case? In my opinion, a Thief-complete collection should be one of those huge boxes that PC games used to ship with. I still have my TDP box right there on the shelf. I've lost my T2 box years ago though.

It was probably just an aesthetic choice. At the end of the day, Deadly Shadows had pretty good cover art.

Nah, I don't like the way the dagger was shopped into it in the last minute. And the fact that it's a representation of the ingame player model of Garrett, whose cloak was excluded because of technical limitations of the time.

I cant say I got very attached to those things. They were really cumbersome to store because of the size (couldnt put them in an ordinary bookshelf for instance), and usually the boxes doesnt age very well, with corners fraying and colours fading when exposed to sunlight...

What i do miss alot from back then was the huge instruction manuals every game had. It contained everything you needed to know about the game, and usually alot of backstory and character bios etc. Nowadays the manuals consist only of epilepsy warnings and copyright statements.

I bought a collection similar to this in Slovakia years ago. Didn't cost more than 10 €, I think.

Yeah, the manuals were awesome. I remember the size of the one I got with Delta Force... those were the days

The coveted trapezoid boxes are appreciated by those who treat their bookshelves with the same level of respect as a work of art.

I just found my Thief 2 manual after almost a decade of it being missing. The box is long gone though. And probably extremely rare and valuable in online auction sites.

I actually still have the Thief Gold and TMA trapezoid boxes in good condition. I even have the booklet that contained Thief Gold though it's very worn from spending alot of time in my back pocket from when I'd play it at school. I didn't realize the trapezoid boxes were a collector's item though it makes sense. xD

Yep. Long sought after. To think I only have paper sleeves for my own first copies, but at least I have all the known manuals on my hard drive, so the info's available.

I think the Thief Gold box was the last 'classic box' that I bought, and for some reason it got thrown out during a summer clean by my mum. A real shame, there was something about a boxed game that would make you install and play it just by picking it up, DVD cases just don't do it im afraid.

The system requirements mention Windows XP but not Windows 98 which the first two games were written for. I presume that's just an oversight, unintentional or otherwise, since we all know that getting TDP and TMA to run on WinXP - and play the cutscenes - can be a real hassle. It would be too much to hope for that they recompiled the games to truly be XP compatible.

Maybe there was a fix? My new system doesn't play well with the old titles, and I still use XP SP3.
