I have to say I'm very disappointed with the game Thief Deadly Shadows.
It started out being fun, until all the bugs started killing it. 1.If you try to JUMP your Character will start to slide and float. The controls reverse and mouse is not usable. 2.You can get very easily STUCK in items and scenery. Jump onto a barrel...STUCK. Walk into the corner of the Kings room, Stuck. ![]() Try to jump out a window, floats, then gets stuck. Try to jump over the railing near the gargoyle to get LOOT, STUCK, sometimes floats and glides. Jump to avoid an attacker...Skids and Floats around no mouse control. It's so buggy it's not even playable. I have tried for 2 days but end up getting stuck in props and terrain and or locked and sliding around. I had really wanted to play and enjoyed it the few times it actually worked. ![]() Any fixes, Idea, etc? Anyone? ![]() ------------------- System Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3 NvIDIA 8800GTS OC 4GB Ripjaw RAM Intel I-5 CPU and Motherboard 500GB Dedicated system/gaming drive. This is not the behavior of a typical system. I have the same OS and video card (the usual culprits), and my setup works perfectly. You seem to have an input device that is interfering. Try removing all USB controllers other than the keyboard and mouse. If none, try a non-usb keyboard or use a usb to ps2 adapter for the keyboard. Try a different mouse with a chord. Narrow it down that way, one step at a time.

When I tried to jump up on a box near a wall the player first got stuck, the froze and started sliding, shortly after the player flew up into the sky OFF THE MAP and then fall back down and DIED. See Screen Shot of the event happening. Video card drivers are updated as of this week. Only Logic Keyboard USB and G5 Wired USB mouse are attached to PC. HELP? Any ideas?

For a start, edit screen shots so they fit nicely on the screen and have reasonable gamma. 500-600 pixels wide, max.
No idea what is causing your problem.

Second, it wasn't the gamma that was the reason the image was so dark. In fact, my Fraps video even came out that way. I finally discovered what was causing all the issues with getting stuck, frozen and dark video and screen shots. nVidia's NEW DRIVER! 275.33 for the 8800GTS card. It's jacking up a lot of people's systems! Something major wrong with it. I rolled back my driver and everything works great now. Watch out for the new driver until they get the bugs worked out. FIXED SCREEN SHOT.

FRAPS will only record the default gamma of the game, and will not be affected by personal game option settings. The images' gamma needs adjusting before uploading, in an image-editing application. If you don't have Microsoft Picture Manager, or Photoshop, etc., you can download Irfanview for free. Of course, the image in your last post is just a screenshot that doesn't demonstrate a problem, while the previous screenshot is too dark to see what you're talking about.
All that said, thanks for posting the solution to your game glitch! |

Hi, were you having problems lockpicking, using ladders and backstabbing enemies? I also use the newest nvidia driver and it may be the cause of my problems. I also experienced floating after I attempted to jump onto a barrel. I just play many new games so going back to an old driver is not an option for me. I'm thinking about reporting it as a driver issue at nvidia (which you can do here http://nvidia-submit.custhelp.com/cg...er/std_alp.php) but I would like to confirm that it's the driver from other users if possible.

I reverted back to the second latest Driver for my 8800GTS and falling off the map stopped. But still have issues with the character freezing and sliding when I'm trying to jump onto boxes, walls, or jumping to avoid attacks. The only way to get back to moving normal is to switch to the bow and back and then the character moves again. I have noticed other people with the same issue on YouTube. But there is an issue with the latest Nvidia driver and Thief. |
