Default Batman - PS3 or PC ???

Hello All,

I have Batman Arkham Asylum - PC Version (I didn't own a PS3 at the time it came out). I'm not a big gamer generally.

In general - is there a preference in playing the game(s) on PC versus PS3? I am asking in prep for buying Batman Arkham City.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff

I really can't say. I own AA on the PS3 for the ease of having a controller (though I can play the demo with little to no problem with a keyboard and mouse) as well as the ability to easily take my PS3 and game anywhere with me. The Joker content was a big push for me too... the new game, however, has yet to establish if any of the platforms will get exclusive content (I really hope that doesn't happen because I hate exclusive BS) so I'd say for now plan ahead to get it for the platform you prefer to game on.

If you prefer controllers, however, there are ways to hook a controller up to your PC, though I myself have never accomplished (or really even attempted) this.

You get a nice controller, and the Joker with the PS3.

I have the game on both PS3 and PC, but I prefer playing it on PC.

The only reason for me to play the PS3 version any more is for the Joker content, but I didn't really play it a whole lot when I only had the game on PS3. With PC version you get all the prettier graphics and you can play it with whatever input you want. I personally play with a 360 controller because it's my preferred control method for Arkham Asylum, but you can also set up a PS3 controller as well, but it's more complicated than the Xbox controller which you just plug in and play.

So unless there's any exclusive content again, I'd suggest the PC version.

JD - you mentioned better graphics on the PC - do you find that to be true? (i've never seen the batman game on anything other than a PC)

just curious

It depends really on how good your hardware is, but if you have a decent gaming PC then the game definitely looks better on PC.

Do you know what graphics settings you ran Arkham Asylum on when you played it?

It all depends on your own preference really and what you feel comfortable with. The way games are made these days; games are usually developed on a console and then ported to PC and other consoles so a lot of the time any difference is minimal. Sometimes however PC games do get some extra graphical features, which is the case with Arkham Asylum as you can see here. Now of course, you'll need a fairly good PC to be able to experience these effects.

So what it all boils down to is what you're comfortable with; do you prefer playing with a controller or mouse and keyboard? Would you prefer extra content (Joker on ps3) or some extra graphical effects (PC via things like PhysX etc.).

Personally I play on a Playstation 3 as I'm comfortable with the controller and have use Sony consoles since the first Playstation came out so It's just my preference; I've also dabbled in PC gaming but I'm more comfortable with consoles.

So basically go with what you're most comfortable with as they both have their pros and cons but ultimately deliver the same experience.

In general gaming terms, I'd say get the PS3, piracy has turned a lot of developers away from PC and are only releasing console exclusive games.

But just for Arkham City, as of now, there's no exclusive content, and assuming you have a top of the line PC; I'd say just go for the PC.
