Default Lightning

I've added lightning to my level, and it works fine with all the sounds of thunder. But I wondered if there was a way you can stop the sounds in certain rooms. In my level it is a large house with an outside and I only want the thunder to be heard outside and perhaps the main hallway.

I know you can't hear it when you're 4 or more rooms away from a room where you can see the sky graphics but as the house has many doors leading to the outside it's difficult and you can hear thunder in everyroom. Does anybody have any ideas?

I can only suggest you have the outside areas as a seperate level, and only have the lightning there.
Personally, I believe it adds to the atmosphere having the thunder sound inside.

I believe the sound fades as you make more rooms away from the door that leads to the outside.

Question

Can't you use a trigger/anti-trigger thingy? And if the sounds are linked to the lightning object (don't know, never did this) you could delete them with wadmerger and still use the trigger/anti-trigger bit...... The sounds and image of the thunder wouldn't be aligned anymore though......

The lightning is a part of the script so it's not possible to trigger/antitrigger it.

They don't fade away the further from the outside you are I've been through and listened and I can't tell any difference, it would be alright if the sounds were muffled inside but that's not posible. It's just that the thunder kinda kills the eerie haunted atmosphere of the house.

But you can trigger/anti-trigger the music, now can't you?

The lightning sound is not a part of the backround music.
@TR: I think in my AC level, you can't hear the lightning after a few rooms down in the caves. Note that these rooms don't have any contact with the outside world except for the entrance room.

Yeah it's a hard coded thing, the sky flashes and then theres a sound effect, unless I modified the sound do it wasn't as loud and a bit more muffled there's no way it can be turned off

Yeah that's what happened with mine when I built the rooms and didnt connect any windows or doors, it worked as I'd liked it to have. But adding doors throughout made very few rooms be away from a room which connects outside, and there's only three outside doors in the whole house!

TrueRaider, play Doomsdays Dungeons and tell me if you believe the thunder is annoying, as it sounds throughout.

Use a different background sound for outside that includes the thunder cracks, then make it lighter as you move inside, you can still hear it, it appears as it is still storming, but you are inside so it's not as loud, kind of adding to the effect

Split the rooms on the outside of the house so they are made of more than one room. This will make the inner rooms further away from the outside.
