That's right... Deus Ex Human Revolution will release August 2011... and for many of us, it marks the end of an era - four long years of living inside each other's posts!
We've seen it all, haven't we. The laughter, the tears, the camaraderie and the bickering. It's been truly wonderful!

Of course, it's far from over. The next chapter of our lives on this forum will be after the game is released, we've played... and we return here to discuss it. Good or bad... we know it's coming.

But before we get to that stage, let's share our fondest memories of the last four years.
What has been your favourite moment? The funniest, the saddest, the maddest and the most outrageous!

Also, feel free to take this opportunity to pay tribute to any members here.
New members - you are also welcome in this thread. Hopefully you'll be sticking around and will soon feel at home.

Fave Thread (outrageous): DXHR - Will the future be vegetarian? - the best drama ever. We all ate too much popcorn back in the early days!



Tribute to members: My tribute goes out to every single one of you. To those who love me, and to those who don't much care for me (who are really just playing hard-to-get ). I love you all!

Special thanks to Tecman for keeping us up-to-date on the latest images and tidbits.... and to Pinky for making me grin - so much, the Cheshire Cat would be jealous.


A special mention goes out to my fellow mods, a great bunch of guys in all ways; DXeXodus who checks in regularly, Jerion who has given so much of his time here to help out and entertain us, and Romeo who is always around to offer me protection when he thinks I am in need of it, even though I keep telling him to back off because I can look after myself.
I kid.

Another shout-out goes to Rene, miss him and hope he'll come back sometime and say hello.

Finally, my thanks to Kyle, our Community Manager. Fairly new here, and what with settling into his new post and having to learn the ropes, he's still continued to work his butt off to keep us in the loop.
We appreciate it so much.

This looks a lot like a depressing farewell thread, and we are far from August, are you leaving us or something? Anyway...

Favorite moment: When I heard about DX3 project, Eidos Montréal, and their enthusiasm.
The maddest: Every piece of new information about DX:HR is a mixture of great news and terrible news, very destructive for human psychology.
The most outrageous: Deleting my old posts one by one, and ragequitting, only to come back later.

Fave Thread (reference):The FAQ, with Copy and Paste as a close second.
Fave Thread (fun): Deus Ex trivia thread which has shown there are still things unknown for many people in a decade old game, like JC's laugh. Vid uploaded to YouTube by yours truly. And the fascinating fan art.
Fave Thread (serious): Nothing is even close to the neverending health regen topics and polls.
Fave Thread (outrageous):Impossible to pick only one.

Oh man, this is really setting the bar high, MyImmortal - you ask so much of us!

There have been so many off-beat, utterly useless threads over the years...even just remembering what each of them were called is going to be a challenge.

There was a discussion about the giant HOLE in the middle of the ocean that we saw in one of the first trailers that comes to mind -

the very first photoshopping competition was pretty good too - with the cadaver

The caption fun thread is "legendarily epic" as the tag says - too many good laughs in that one

Double Denton face palm is probably my favorite thing from this forum.

In close second is the general attitude of reasoned discussion exchanged between the longtime posters in this community (RIP thomasaquinas).

The attitude here is a marvelous breath of fresh air from the craziness you find elsewhere on the net. As game forums go, this is one of the most mature. Some of you guys and girls I actually quite like after this mad run. Some I can't help but (grudgingly?) respect. In any case, this place has always been a true community. As much as I'm afraid of what's coming in August, It'll be a treat nonetheless.

I have to give a pat on the back to my fellow mods. DXe is a pleasure to be around, even though he's not always here. MyImmortal, you've given a tremendous effort here over the years. Romeo, brotha, you're the man. If we were characters on Lost, MyImmortal would probably be Juliet, DXe would be either Jack or Boone...Romeo would be Desmond. I haven't got a clue who I would be. Pinky would be Sawyer...Erm. Topic!

I think special mention has to go out to Ashpolt, Pinky_Powers, and Tecman. Ash: Dammit man, even when I utterly disagree with you I can't come up with a reason to not respect or like you. Pinky: You always make my day creepy and fun. Tecman: You've really stepped up to the plate with keeping track of DXHR resources, and generally being a helluva guy.

Also to Spyhopping and Semi_Anonymous for hanging out in the IRC Channel and generally being awesome. The other guy in there who eats pants and puppies: Not awesome.

There's you others out there too, POM, K^2, Maxx...Where to end the list? Some of you guys are quite the characters.

Tecman for being the most useful forummember. After the Nixes news, he actually checked almost every game nixxes helped put on the pc, with positive result. Always keeps us up to date as well.

But yeah there aremany members here which posts I enjoy reading... POM, I_I, don't know where to end but I sure had my laughs.

My favourite moment was in 2007 when the DXMP community suddenly realized, no-one on this forums was interested in their internal problems and they would have to quit whining to Eidos and sort their own problems out. DXMP began to grow up. 4 years later and partly thanks to DXHR's PR and people from EM like Kyle helping us, DXMP is having a huge revival, 3 months in and I've seen 12 major mods hatching or being released.

I thought I was a pretty cool dude when I posted an upside down Sarif hand, but I think the best is yet to come from Eidos posts and from community posts.

Guess I'll give this a shot:

Favourite images: pretty much the ones pha posted, minus the popcorn one, but especially the kids one. Reminds me of the good old days of the forum!

Talking of which, though I won't name any threads in specific,* I most enjoyed the forum in the time before the "I never asked for this...." trailer. We had less members then, but the members we did have were, almost without exception, great. We had debates back and forth, and even when people disagreed with each other (which was frequent) it was mostly civil, and the ad-hominem nonsense was kept to a minimum.

*Exception: I am proud of my "Constructive Criticism" thread, though it ultimately didn't achieve its purpose. Does choosing my own thread make me bigheaded? :P

So talking of the members, here are the ones I'd like to give a shout out to:

Jerion: Just because he gave a shout out to me. No other reason. No, of course not, just kidding! The guy has been great throughout this, and I think has done more for this community than anyone else, including René and Kyle (no offense guys, you've also been great!) He's also a great guy to chat with (on Steam, Facebook, IRC etc,) and stays patient with me even though my constant prodding, trying to get more information out of him, must get old fast. That said, if I hear the acronym NDA one more time, I take no responsibility for my actions. Oh, and he will always, always be Mr K to me.

Pretentious Old Man: Because he's a man, like me, and pretentious and old, which I one day aspire to be. What's not to like?

CarlosGervasi (and all his aliases), WhatsHisFace, Bluey71, van_Hellsing, and all the other banned members who (IMO) didn't deserve it: You guys were great, and the forum is a worse place without you. Well, those of you who aren't now here under different aliases. :P

K^2: If you're in the middle of a debate with K^2, here's a hint: you're probably wrong. This guy is either insanely smart, or an insanely good bull*****ter. Either way, respect!

Irate_Iguana: For being the only person on here almost as grumpy as me! And for fighting the good fight against EM's marketing "plan."

Wilks: Because he likes The Wire.

Spyhoppan: For being the only forum member I've met IRL, even if it was only for a matter of minutes!

AaronJ, -=fox=-, Blade_hunter, BlazeL, FrankCSIS, minus0ne, pha, PlasmaSnake101, sonicsidewinder: Just for being people whose names I recognise enough to always pay attention to your posts.

Coyotegrey, René: I do wish you guys could do / could have done more, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you have done, and understand that you're limited in what you can say and do on here. in other words: I may disagree with your bosses, but I like and respect both of you.

....And basically anyone who can come on here and discuss things with people in a reasonable, non-insulting and non-patronising manner, even if they disagree with them. When we actually get a debate going, rather than an argument, this place is great.

Yeah, I think I've been nostalgic and "nice" enough for now. I'm going to put my grumpy hat back on and go and kick a box of kittens into a river.

Ashpolt's list, plus Pinky and the unfortunately departed from the forum Lithos, who I always felt was like an alter ego of me we were so alike. Man, I hope that guy comes back some day.

I would also like to make special mention to my good friend CoDEllite/David Sarif, who has made this forum a more amusing place than it otherwise would have been and has improved at the noble art of trolling immensely since his rather cackhanded early attempts. (Yes, trolling is a art and an science). Since I like to reward achievements in our young talented, I would like to say this to the little scamp:

This place has made me laugh, inspired me, and allowed me to communicate with a some very creative, passionate people.

I think I'll spread some more specific love tomorrow, or later in the week when I've stopped moving around like a bloody nomad.

Edit: Oh, one thing that just popped into my head. A nod to Gmanpro- used to enjoy reading his posts, but he's been absent for quite a long time now.

Good - that was starting to get a little too warm and fuzzy.

All of this nostalgia now...right before the game's release? Do the mods know something we don't? It's like the calm before the storm, or how your life flashes before your eyes before kicking the bucket (or being involved in a car-crash)???

Also, I'd like to bring up this thread, for what isn't there (if you were there at the time ):

I've spent all this time searching, but I can't find the one about "Deux Ex in Outer Space" or something nonsensical like that - if ever there were a greater battle between egos/minds, call it what you will...
