Yep, it wasn't that bad.

Personally I think it's neither here nor there.

There's nice concept from open source world - BDFL. He, usually, holds trademarks and other rights to the project.

So, there you have it. Quality in itself has little to do with brand abuse.

Problems:
1) Publisher has all the rights.
2) Developer needs money and as a result publisher dictates

Thought it was just a trailer fad thing, but no.

Dubstep is IN Far Cry 3.

Don't think so. The music is flowing during the video cuts and different scenes. It's almost as if it was added after the video to enhance the presentation. I doubt it is actually IN the game when you play.

Completed Max Payne 3 on PS3 a few minutes ago. It was really damn good. The new "comic" cutscenes worked and the whole fx splendor was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

How's the gameplay compared to the previous games? How's the plot compared to the previous games?

How's the "noir feel" compared to the previous games?

i'm curious

No talk about the DayZ mod for ARMA II? First person zombie apocalypse game. The map is huge, you scavenge from abandoned buildings, form ad hoc survivor groups, deal with bandit players who want to take your food, water, and weapons, and run like hell when the zombie horde sets their sights on you. I've been playing for short stints the last few days. Hard to get a session in as it's all real time. When I'm free at night, the game world is pitchblack. Without a flashlight you're forced to crank up the gamma to make anything out.

----

My last play only lasted about half an hour. I spawned a new character on the beach, made my way west along the shore, and slipped into a small shipyard. I noticed a fellow survivor trapped atop a crane, a few zombies milling about below him. He called for assistance, didn't have enough ammo to take care of them himself. So I pop the zombies and he jumps down to join me.

We check out a few buildings, get into a fire fight with some zombies near a shed. I take a hit to the chest and start bleeding. I have to retreat into a building and patch myself up. After putting down a dozen zombies, we make our way toward some train tracks. We spot a large machine shed and duck inside to scavenge for some loot.

My partner stops to loot the body of a survivor just inside the door. In the opposite corner I see a case of ammo which I proceed to retrieve. I pick it up, turn around, but my new friend is gone. I walk outside the building, scanning the area, trying to see where he might have plodded off to. I hear a bush to my right shake a little and I turn to investigate. A walker stumbles out from behind it and I frantically put him down. This alerts another dozen zombies a short ways down the tracks.

I find myself out of ammo, bleeding out, with close to two dozen zombies hot on my heels. I veer off the road, determined to lose them in the woods, but my injuries are too severe. I collapse to the ground as the recently deceased tear my guts out.

That mod really gained interest fast. I'm waiting on arma CO to go on sale on steam so I can give it a go. Sounds like there are lots of things that need to be patched up in the meantime anyway, since it's only in alpha.

The gameplay is still pretty unchanged from the previous games with Euphoria and cover mechanics added. You still have to move around a lot. It's also really quite challenging. You make a wrong move, you die. The comic book cutscenes have been replaced with these split screened cutscenes with certain words of interest bolded to make them pop. There is some FX trickery as I mentioned before. I think the official explanation was that "Max is so disconnected and detached from the real world, that it bleeds into his reality" or something.

The plot is pretty much like Max Payne with the whole revenge and grief thing going on. It's a little darker than the previous games with Max being really...old all the time. The game could have had a few jokes around there somewhere, from Max or other. Now it just seems really serious all the time. I liked it though. Max's angst works for the story

Can't really say about the noir feel. There is something there, but the whole sunny Sao Paulo thing kinda cramps it.

Are the physics still over the top in bullet time mode? And are there different levels of bullet time? In max payne, bullet time became a yellow color, and then I could shoot people against ceilings. I want to do that in max payne 3!

No. It's pretty "realistic" this time around. I mean the dudes tend to fly off if you riddle them with enough bullets, but nothing truly ridiculous. The bullet time stays the "same speed".

One thing I want to mention though, is the ability to slow down the final kill cam. You can press down the X or A button on the controller (space on PC?) to slow the action down to a crawl - except for the bullets. So what you get is a 20 bullets impacting at the same time, causing the dude to do 360 noscope into the wall at 400 miles per hour.

Oh and if you shoot at a dude with a smg or assault rifle, anything with a high rate of fire, you can make the dude stagger back while he's getting riddled with bullets and through a window. There's a lot of small details with the movement and the clothing twisting and Max heavily throwing himself on the floor and picking himself up again.

lmao, excellent story.

I'd like to try it but I hear it requires Operation Arrowhead as well, which I don't got.

Don't know whether to jus get them both on steam.

Yeah, the mounted combat only seems half implemented so far. No magic, no staves, no shouts. It's all still third person, so I'm not sure how exactly archery is supposed to work. From the videos I've seen it would also seem to make you into a god. It doesn't seem like you take many hits at all. Maybe if you're fighting dragons.

I've heard it's a little trickier to get things working without the Steam version. Not sure why that is exactly. Mixing and matching a retail copy and a steam expansion might require more work getting things up and running, too.

I heard you can play Day Z even with the free version of Arma o.o You just need 2/Arrowhead for all the decent graphics/models and stuff?

The Dishonored Tumblr has some pretty cool new media, including some in-game animated gifs.

Color me pumped.

Excellent! Only dislike is the hands seem to be WAY too close to the camera.. almost as bad as killing floor.

Um, there already is one though... It's the red/white triangle next to the online-status symbol.

That button is so damn small I forgot it even existed.

In other news, steam only want £2.99 for Alice and I am flat broke.

Apparently, this is the first released concept from CD Projekt RED's new game. CDPR conference tomorrow.
