Have you heard that the makers of both the Witcher and Max Payne decided to change the look of the main characters, when the community reacted negatively? Now, that's what I call real modern companies! EM, you should learn.
Here's the new witcher http://tw2.thewitcher.com/images/newfaceen.png
and here's the new Max, not bald anymore http://images.eurogamer.net/assets/a...011419.jpg.jpg. They even employed the same voice actor as in the previous installments, unlike what they initially intended!

Its out of print now so either wait and see if GOG will get it or check amazon and ebay. it might also have trouble working on more modern systems.

I have the original box version of Thief: The Dark Project and it plays fine on my system (XP).
The only thing I have to do is go into processes and run it on single core, otherwise it freezes.

Well, there's a VAST difference in terms of compatibility between XP, Vista and W7. XP can run almost everything from ages past. The later systems rebel like stubborn mules.

My god. You must tell me how you achieved this feat. I haven't managed it at all and would love to play this game again.

Thief 2 used a VERY out of date codec to run its files. it took a lot of time and forum hopping to get it to run. shadows of the metal age also was tricky on vista but i haven't tried it since i got win 7.

Yes, I know, Pinky. Sorry, I was just butting in there.
I've always been grateful that I'm still using XP... I'd go nuts if I couldn't play the delicious thiefy fan missions.

Well, perhaps a little... but in a very nice way.

The industry has grown up

Also: max (no pun intended) 3 frakkin guns. Three frakkin guns is the maximum!!WTF? If he still had his leather coat, we wouldn't have this problem!

Actually, I was able to run System Shock 2 on Win 7.
My old XP laptop, despite being merely a single core (which is better for the game) was incapable of such a feat.

I was able to get SS2, which AFAIK, used the same dark engine, to run by doing the same thing, plus running it in window XP compatibility mode. and that's on Vista, which shouldn't be too different from windows 7.

I actually watched the Witcher 2 Q&A event on Ustream where they showed off Geralts new look.
It's bang on the money. So much more like original Geralt.

Also, i'm about to begin Amnesia: TDD. Any words of emotional support? If not that, a lone hint or tip (that will not spoil).

Fallout 3. I honestly don't see what was so bad about that game or even oblivion. I'll concede they were both worse than their progenitor's. But not terrible. I would like to hear people's specific criticisms on them.

Light is your friend.
Things dislike when you throw stuff at them.
If you (character) start panicking, you WILL let out little noises. Those WILL ruin you.

I've been toying with the idea of posting a playthrough of me playing it along with a few friends over skype since I never got around to properly finish the game. The great thing about amnesia is that when done right, it's a nice group experience

Have fun

It's late and I'm too tired to engage in such a long task as compiling the exhaustive list of everything wrong with Oblivion. I'll do it tomorrow, if I may.

This is a good start:

Ouch. I don't know if I want to jump through a lot of hoops. "Old games that everyone talks about how wonderful they are" are really hit and miss for me. Some times they are as good as people say, but other times they are not.
