Somehow I think it's fitting for this scenario. LOL

Really? I was under the impression that its to early to tell..

Or maybe I'm just making the same mistake as the Deus Ex fanbase has done, and expect something to come at any moment when it won't ....

Community relations should ideally start as soon as a game is announced. There should definitely be something happening if they've got an official forum set up. I have no doubt they'll release information etc in the fullness of time - when the "marketing plan" kicks in - but keeping people so totally in the dark for an extended period of time before the (arbitrary) date that marks the start of the marketing plan is still bad CR.

Nothing bad ever came from sowing good community relations early.

On a different note, some of the Skyrim concept art is truly beautiful.

I expressed the doubts that I've already spoken about on here - namely that the game looks pretty much exactly like Splinter Cell: Conviction, and doesn't seem to be about being an assassin anymore - and here's what they said:

(Worth noting: none of these are exact quotes as I didn't have a dictaphone or notepad on hand at the time - obviously, I'm not a journalist! - but I've written as close as I can remember, and kept the meaning intact.)

-When asked if the game still involved being the predator, or if the whole experience was now about being the prey; "Haha, I'm not really allowed to speak about that now." Really? You're not allowed to tell me if your Hitman game involves hitting men? "You will have targets to kill."

-Will there still be an aspect of creativity involved? "Yes." But they didn't expand on it at all past that.

-They outright said that this will not be a similar experience to previous Hitman games. It's a different type of game. Why? "Because we've got this really great hardcore fanbase, but we also want to appeal to all kinds of players, people who were turned off by the complexity of the older Hitman titles." (Side note: really? I didn't ever think the old Hitman titles were particularly "hardcore" or complex.)

-Standard talk about how the AI has improved, etc.

-Apparently we'll see more of the game around Christmas time, including a "great new feature."

They were nice guys, clearly passionate about what they were doing, but talking to them didn't do anything to alleviate my fears. If anything, they fairly strongly confirmed that what I loved about the series, while possibly still present, is taking a backseat and that this more generic stealth style will now be at the forefront. I'll keep an eye out for more footage etc, but at the moment, this is a definite no-buy for me.

*By "completely by coincidence" what I mean is "I was attending a very small scale games industry event run by another company, and didn't know IO were going to be there."
I do agree, that was not a promising interview at all.

That said, I still fully support any stealth game, as there are so few of them being made.

Friggin' hell lad! What to do? WHAT indeed to do...

- BF3 is available. (Limited Edition out of stock in GAME)

- Sword of the Stars 2 is available. (If anyone owns, would love to know what they think at this early stage)

- Dead Island is going at a more appropriate price. (Still don't even know if this game is worth it)

I'm seeing stars and don't know what to buy. I may just buy nothing to keep the status quo.

Don't know about Sword of the stars, but I didn't like Dead Island one bit....so I'd go for BF3.

I'm just installing my copy of it and am already looking forward to meeting some of you fellow forumites out in the field.

Halloween sale on Steam

Amongst other things, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is only £3.75

Any Deus Ex fan should own this game.

Well you can always just watch a bit of the games on youtube. I am doing that with sword of the stars right now.

I am thinking of maybe picking up the starker pack on steam, but it looks like it's missing a game. Anyone know if it's all the games.

Its the same S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Bundle as the last big sale earlier in the year. Containing SOC and call of pripyat, for some reason Clear sky gets no love.

Kind of getting hyped up for Skyrim. Finished the main quest in Nehrim after some 100 hours total, noticed there's a new patch (german only for now) with a bunch of new stuff. Yay!

Ended up buying Sots1 complete collection (due to not having played the last 2 expansions).

Word on the Web is that Sots2's been having issues. They did a Dead Island and put the beta up on steam, or something.

So yeah. I'll get some sots1 hours in; havn't played for time anyway. (Sots2 can only get better, and cheaper)

But yes, main purchase will be Skyrim, having thought about it fully. BF3 looks good but I don't know if i can be arsed.

Lolled at Total Biscuit, flaying the singleplayer though.

Havn't been following Skyrim closely at all, but having had a quick look, i'm excited. The Khajiit look like proper Tiger Men. And the Argonians proper Dinosaur Raptors lol.

Not really, Dispite very good graphics its very far removed from the other two games and its not one i return to.

I am hyped for skyrim as well. But I truly desperate for that Morrowind feeling once again, I just hope it delivers.

Yes. Clear Sky was functionally adequate, and technically a bit a more impressive than Shadow of Chernobyl, but it lacked the soul of the first game. The third game is better, but it's quest and world design is far too cookie cutter and artificial.

Not bad. Did you play through the game SP, or go co-op at times?

Hey Kvltism ! I played in human form as often as I could so I had a fair share of co-op and PvP. I'd say I was summoned around 50 times and invaded about the same. Also I joined the Darkmoon Blade covenant late in the game, which allows for more pvp.

I just saw a leaked video of Skyrim gameplay (Which unfortunately has now been removed from YouTube) showing the start of the game. Jesus christ...the animation is so terrible, as are the textures. I wasn't expecting much from Bethesda but my god. It feels more like an Oblivion expansion pack, new engine my arse, it's a slightly shinier Gamebyro. Plus some of the writing was a bit odd. A dragon appeared and an NPC just casually went "That's a dragon no doubt"

Oh, and I watched an NPC walk up the stairs. The animation made me burst out laughing. The textures, animations, and combat just all looks so terrible. I especially love how enemies don't even react when you're hacking them in the face with an axe. The only thing it has over Oblivion so far is a MUCH larger amount of voice actors. Though I couldn't understand why all the adults were English/European, and the kids were American...

EDIT:
They've been reuploaded

I'd say the PC version probably has better textures, but considering it apparently requires only 6 gigs of hdd space...

Anyway, improvement over Oblivion is still noticeable, and having very recently played through Nehrim I'm just happy to get another big, moddable fantasy sandbox.

It won't, I read somewhere a few days ago that Todd Howard said the console and PC versions will look EXACTLY the same. I think the 360 was the lead platform too. From what I've seen so far, Skyrim won't be a complete flop, thousands will still buy it. But I reckon it'll end up being a disappointment for a lot of people. Seeing as the game has gone gold I doubt there will be much improvement from those videos. Why the hell do they still use Gamebyro engine anyway, it's LITERALLY the worst engine there is.

I was able to download the second video at around 2mb/s... took about a min. The first video barely breaks 20KB/s... set to finish in a little over 2 hours.

YouTube must be storing them on two different servers, and one is utterly ruined.

They are not using the old engine. They made a whole knew one for Skyrim. Textures and animations might not look any better, but the technology supposedly allows for so many interesting, radiant effects.

I'm not willing to bet on it. Todd Howard lies so much. I noticed they've also basically incorporated a rehashed VATS system into it as well for when you kill enemies. SLOW MO.
