other than that it is excellent and am really enjoying it. i suppose it is proof that mixing third person & first person together is not a bad idea. i still dont want it in MY deus ex though. that mission at the haunted house was pretty sick. my trigger finger was itching for some zombies or vampires though. but they never showed up! just that pesky ghost. but if they did it probably would have ruined that particular mission. it was immersive. anyways those of you who bought cthulhu, enjoy!
I wouldn't worry about the action, soon enough you'll get plenty of that. Once you've made your choice that is. Oh, when you get the chance check out the abandoned Hospital downtown. When you get to that area that is, nice little side quest and guest star voice.

Also, if you want to kill tons of zombies, go to the graveyard later on and enter the shack there. Plenty of zombies to kill, another neat little side quest. That one is insane though.

I do agree with you on most of your points though. Once you finish the game, look the cheats up and try that on for size. You'll never be sad again at your accuracy that's for sure.

1. Weapons are tools to a vampire. Nothing more.
2. It's not your main weapon, though it can be really handy.
3. Can't fault you there. The game is a bit... empty, at times.
4. Very weird design decision, yes.
5. There is a lot of action later.
6. Welcome to the world of yesteryear. I love that aspect, myself.

Ocean House is the second most creepy single-map experience(*) I've had in a computer game to date. The first (and most creepy) being the "Shalebridge Cradle" in Thief: Deadly Shadows (read this, if you haven't played it (*2)).

*) As in: in a game not primarily focused on horror.
*2) It contains the best description of good horror I've ever heard: "You need only shout, 'boo!' at the optimal moment, and your victims will find themselves clinging to the ceiling, quivering and
hissing expletives. Our reptile brains instantly respond, ready to brandish the adrenals at the drop of a hat. But will the memories last? Typically, no. They are warning signs, written in a very basic language. As the mind rights itself, these messages fade away, leaving it largely unblemished. I want my scares to leave scars."

i prefer shooting to melee. and i have to disagree with the last bit- the most creepy map is the crypt from arx fatalis.

The crypt? Really? I found that to be decidedly lacklustre. The Cradle had me almost ting myself at times.

Kurenai in the English dub of Naruto, among many, many other things.

Did you play it loud & at night? that really makes all the difference in arx fatalis. might of been cos i was high aswell. getting high really enhances video games, movies and music. and sex too. but it has negative effects too.
(im sure you know)

Try that with The Cradle, and you may end up in a hospital... just sayin'.

Edit: Oh, and the consensus is that Thief 1&2 are far and away superior to DS. I tend to agree, though I definitely enjoyed DS.

Not really. You just buy stuff, basically.

Depends on what you mean about RPG elements, though.

well my favourite rpg element is character customisation/development. so its just a sneaking game then? thats disapointing. well i know there is more to it than that. but im not a big fan of stealth, i only use it a little bit but i am glad the option is there in games like dx & arx. although i really liked tenchu 1, syphon filter & MGSolid 1 back in my childhood on me ps1. so i suppose i could like this too.
Edit: thanks for the info btw

If you're not a stealth fan, chances are you won't like Thief. In any way.

The thing is; no other game has made a stealth experience as fulfilling as Thief 1&2, in my opinion... and the opinion of many, many others. But yes; it is mainly a sneaking game. In 1&2 you can actually hold your own in open combat, as opposed to DS - tough it basically means you're a crappy thief.

The new Quakecon trailer for Rage, along with the Enemies dev-diary, has my excitement levels raised once again. I'm not wildly thrilled, but more so than I have been in a year now. Once again I'm beginning to think it might be more than just a boring shooter... it might actually be awesome.

id are decent devs overall. yeah they have always produced linear, simple games, but im sure it will be good as long as it is unique

You should try them, though. I mean, there is a reason why they are considered modern classics; they're bloody great games.

I know her mostly as Motoko Kusanagi, from Ghost in the Shell: SAC. Mmm...Major....

Also, I would pay good money to see an actually good GitS: SAC game. Not like that crappy PS2 one, with the carp tastic control scheme.

ha ha. i wonder if there is name for people who are attracted to animated characters. gits:sac is good but i refuse to watch because of those damn little robots with the squeaky voices. also the episode with THE SMILING MAN (i think that was his name) put me off a bit.

The Laughing Man? That was a series of cases during the first season. It was pretty good, a bit deep, but good. The action is well drawn too. I'm surprised that you found the Tachikomas so annoying. That's one of the great things about the series to some people. I actually like the plots, and action, the Tachikomas are nice but generally just side stuff.

I don't know if there is a word for that, but, at least she's easy on the eyes.

there are 3 locations I can think of where you have to kill hordes of zombies. you are going to encounter one soon. that part came out of nowhere, and made me absolutely fall in love with bloodlines, because it offered so many different experiences in a single package.

EDIT: oh, and ranged weapons are inferior. get yourself a katana.
though I did love the "semi-automatic shotgun"......

You can make ranged weapons work... especially the more powerful ones... I played through once as a ranged expert. I used a lot of "control" abilities to keep enemies at a distance though. Some of the weapons in the game can do A LOT of damage, even to vampires. Also, expect to back-pedal and use cover. The game has a pretty satisfying stealth kill though, I always kept a katana for those.

I have to agree with you on that Rindill, don't forget to feed too otherwise you have the Blood Rage and the Masquerade is broken. People gonna hunt you, a LOT. Tried it once just to see how hard it was, to make the story short, I didn't get very far...

You get a SPAS-15 shotgun about 2/3 of the way through. That thing blows through everything, mortal or immortal.

Speaking of QuakeCon, why isn't anybody talking about the most important gameplay to have come out of it?

Sure does look like Tribes to me. Makes me wish it weren't free-to-play.

It's been too long. Tribes was the first multiplayer game I was ever obsessed with... and all I ever had was the demo.
