Official TR9 Demo Discussion Thread | update Jan 22: Meagan explains (see OP)

I'm up for a demo, whenever it's ready. I was just talking to a buddy at work the other day about how we used to not know what was coming out or if it was any good unless we got a demo cd from a magazine or some kind of giveaway at a store. That's all changed since the 'nets grown so big. Hell, I can remember getting an issue of PC Gamer that had a demo for the first TR on a cd, along w/ (I think) a SkyNET demo, and a Powerslave demo. Possibly MDK, but not sure. Played the hell out of it. Wasn't much, really. If I remember right it was a snipet of Vilicabamba, you killed a couple bats, maybe 1 wolf (can't quite remember for sure on that), picked up a medpack, and opened a door via lever and that was it. I do remember the artwork on the cd sleeve was the one w/ Lara holding a smoking uzi in one hand, and two human heads in the other. She was sneering all sorts of bada$$ and had RED HAIR. Wish I'd kept it. Anyways, yeah. Demos = nostalgia for me, so I'm all for 'em. End of rant. Cheers, all!

E3 will be coming up in June, so who knows they may have a trailer, demo or anything about the game.

I hope we get to play a Demo or Beta version and help the QA team and Developers before release.

Okay i know we already saw the presentation, but i wish for out community to be able to have it's own HD version of the demo, and that is not all, i want to see the extended demo, i was curious about it for a time but Gameinformer confirmed it, there was another demo showed http://www.gameinformer.com/games/to...n-e3-demo.aspx, that demo may give us an early look at the survival-combat aspect of the game, it can also be a good look at the base and the skill tree, I hope we can get to see the whole demo, now can we ?!

As nice as a demo would be, we have over a year till the game launches and a ton of things can change in that amount of time. They already said they won't show anymore for a few months where they will finally show exploration, then a few months after they will show the shooting. They still dont know if they will have the amazing CG trailers/ CG scenes in the game or if they will go with in game assets. There is a lot they have to do and if they decide to let us play a demo anytime before 6 months a way, it would take a miracle. I do want to play a demo, but I can wait if they choose not to give us one. A demo would make it harder for me to take the wait so far away unless I was at E3 or something.

QiX : we had totally zero spoilers, i mean from my point of view, since i read alot of coverage i know what happens in the demo, but seeing it is another story, i don't want spoilers myself but i want to see more too

aang001 : i didn't say i want to play a demo, i know that is way to early and will never happen, i am talking about the devs uploading a commentary walkthrough the demo of E3, not just the one we saw but the extended one which was kinda like behind closed doors

Beside come on, a year and half !!, that's a long way to go, i need something to keep watching over and over again, till they show something new, i remember when we knew about Batman Arkham City a year before, never saw a gameplay, the wait for half a year was unbearable

I agree that we've seen enough for now. Lets not get greedy.

If we are constantly bombarded with previews and game demo videos, what fun will it then still be to play the game.

Oh come on i am not greedy , I am asking for what they showed and we already know about :P, and i already saw the best quality demo at Gamespot with alot more details than the presentation one

BTW I just hope TR doesn't go under the radar completely, BioShock Infinite showed a 10 min demo last year at E3, and then it disappeared, and in this year E3 we only got to see a demo, I hope SE doesn't take TR off the radar

maybe they could give a demo that puts lara in a little box that has water in one area a torch in another and sand just to look at the physics of the game??/

Fair point but tis a tad pointless. I don't see the point in getting them to spend time on preparing something that by time we get it isn't reflecting the current version they are working on... sort of thing.

It will be a while till demo's are really. There would be no point in releasing a demo too early unfinished and with lots of glitches. Would rather let them put out demo's closer to the final game release date.

Just out of curiosity, do you think will we be able to play a Demo? Like we could for Underworld?
Personally, i'd love to play a level from the new game, before it's released. I remember when they announced a TR:U demo, and it was pretty awesome, and the Thailand level was awesome too! :P

You say you played a demo for TRU. Do you remember how much of a spoiler it was? Were there any cinematics or big events?
