This one states that the opening section uses unlimited ammunition. Dunno if folks knew or not.

*Facepalm*

I'm going to hope that was just for the press demonstration.

[EDIT] Also, reading the article: "The game explains the controls through a series of tutorial videos."

Oh come on, seriously? WTF, Eidos, WTF?

[EDIT 2] "The game's contrast shifts to red when you get hit."

*Facepalm* again. I thought this had been confirmed not to be in? This is going to be really annoying considering your health takes up to 35 seconds to regenerate.

It's just like in real life. When you get hit, someone throws jam in your face and you spend 30 seconds cleaning it.

Default Is this a joke?

"Throw a box and enemies will inspect it giving you a chance to surprise them with bullets by holding down the R1 button."

Question to the community - if someone throws a giant box into an area, do you go look at the box or do you look for the dumba$$ who threw it?

I mean, if someone threw a stone to make noise, you might wander over to see what made the sound in the first place becuase, and I hope this is clear to you all, you can't see what made the noise becuase a stone is - you know - small.

But a friggen box?

Eidos - no soup for you!

Edit/ and this, "Adam still has auto-regenerative health even though he isn’t augmented."

The dude has auto-regenerative health before he has even been augmented? Are you completely messing with us? This is a joke, right, you are just playing around, right?

I mean, not to come across threatening or anything, but if, and this is purely speculative, I were to, say, take a baseball bat to the side of your knee,... repeatedly... you would, I believe, need to spend some time in hospital, right? Now Adam, as an augmented individual, will need to hobble away and regenerate but then after a sufficient amount of time, he can get back into the fray becuase he's friggen augmented - duh!

another edit/ I'm no longer buying this game in its current form - I'm so dissapointed

Lets do a little test - you go hide somewhere in a building and I'll get a team of security personnel to staff it - you try and get from A to B and you'll have boxes or crates, if you prefer the term - you can throw them into walls if you like - I wonder exactly how security will perform.

Footprints lead you to follow them to see where they terminate, after perhaps doing a quick scan of the surroundings, but if someone thows a box - you will automatically look for who threw it - please try this at home with your siblings - I want to hear your results.

I would hide in a cardboard box, everyone knows that not even the SAS can find a man hiding in such a way...and its peaceful to...you should come inside the box.

Remember their lectures about the significance of black and gold? Makes you wonder what red symbolizes artistically.

Yes i see were your coming from but its just something the AI cant understand and i see why. in any game with physics theres a chance the system will fail - you wouldnt want to have the entire enemy force after you because a frame skipped sending every object flying around the room. and i have seen that happen to many times before now. but you never know maybe EM will suprise us and at this point such a thing is long overdue.

Don't count on it. Fleshy Adam doesn't have any augs and only his trusty assault rifle. Without ammo you are a sitting duck. Of course he needs unlimited ammo. He'll probably still have to reload, but you won't run out.

Ah, yes, the videos. This was commented on in another article. I took this to mean that the section was a handholding tutorial, but coyotegrey assured me that the videos were optional and that the section was most certainly not a handholding tutorial. Then this article comes up with this beauty;

I'm guessing I must be reading this wrong.

Yeah, another article commented on this as well. I was also wondering when this changed since we were lead to believe that there would be no such shenanigans in this game.

The art style, and its importance to this game, makes the decision to have "RED MEENZ U GOT HIT LOL" even more confusing. They've put so much importance on the visual style of the game, only to spoil it by putting a filter on the screen when you get shot. Herp and, indeed, derp.

"It's not dumbed down guys, honestly!"

Seriously, give us a stupidly large amount of ammo that no even vaguely competent player could ever run out of, that's fine, but infinite ammo is just insulting. Why don't they just have "DON'T WORRY, IT'S ALL FINE, NOTHING CAN GO WRONG, KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON" scrolling across the bottom of the screen during this section?

Honestly, this dismays me. After all the previews saying "it's not dumbed down, seriously u guiz" I was almost starting to believe them. Handholding to this extent in a fricking Deus Ex game is ridiculous though.

"Oh my God, JC, a box!"

"A box!"

Seriously, that needs some clarification, because I'm hoping the reviewer just had a derp moment when he wrote that and meant something entirely different.

There were other previews that said you ran out of ammo very easily. Which one is right?

They meant during the first mission, not during the tutorial.

I see.

Well, I'm certainly going to miss the almost ridiculous difficulty of the Deus Ex Tutorial, but generally speaking, I don't care much. So long as the game proper is everything that's been promised, I can forgive some handholding in the introductory sequences. It's rather needed in the current state of the industry, innit?

Guys I really don't think we should be concerned if one little tutorial has unlimited ammo. From what we've read the rest of the game promises to be challenging and ammunition will be scarce.

It isn't, but you'll have a hell of a time convincing devs and the marketing people of that.

I just hope that this section becomes skippable after you ran through it once.

Please reserve your final judgement for when you get to play the game. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised about a great many things...

Also, I asked the journalists if they thought the beginning area could described as "handholding." The most common response was "Oh, oh god no."
