1. One of the spookiest levels in any game which will keep you on your toes

2. Amazing music, dialogues, design, and voice acting.
3. Malkavians.
4. Everything?

Agreed on all counts, especially the spooky level, double-especially when you play it as a Malk.

Fair enough on both counts, I just think she deserves her own point

Did anyone ever use guns in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines ?. i found it near impossible no matter the training. it always seemed more effective to use the Katana and rip everyone to shreds.

They were decent at higher levels (7 or so in the skill), especially against enemies with strong Melee/Celerity/Potence. The Camarilla Eddition Mod and a few others balanced them out a bit more.

With the CE mod they work great with a Toreador because of Celerity and Presence and their lack of damage-Disciplines.

Honestly, VTM:B's main problem and the main reason why guns never seem as powerful as melee/unarmed is because of the enemy's inability to effectively use their Disciplines.

I used them, and quite effectively, I thought, considering it's not primarily a shooter. I tended to use the Katana more, though, just because it was more fun trying to get in close enough to actually use it.

It's been awhile since I've gone through the game, but I don't recall ever having real trouble with guns.

Maybe one of the community patches got a fix for it
I had the same opinion, but on my last playthrough I found them usable enough.

Thanks everyone. the problems i found were that guns never seemed effective and took forever to level to anything that could pass for effective were as the katana was easy to use and could kill almost anything. its just a pity it took them so long to patch the game as that damn raft bug killed it for me.

Try to replay it with the some major mods (CE 1.2 is my favourite). Without any bugs and the original planned content/additional fan content that they provide the game's seriously unforgetable

How much did you play? The several clans are rather different, even more so after the unofficial patches restored the history/bloodline at character creation.
At the extreme, Malkavian and Nosferatu offer a completely different experience. Malkavians will be insane and this'll affect your dialogues and how people interact with you, aswell as some non-sensical but funny moments (like argueing with a stop sign).
Nosferatu can't wander around in places where the Masquerade and have to remain hidden and travel through different means (like the sewers).

Any clan can be good at anything, but their Discipline sets means you'll likely end up playing them differently to be effective. Example: A Gangrel is always a Gangrel, you can play them effectively with firearms, but the Protean and Fortitude Disciplines make them terrifyingly powerful with their claws (dealing vast ammounts of lethal damage against everything and agravated damage to other Kindred).

...Why did we even put DX in there? It was obvious it was going to win.

Vampire rocks, except for the combat dungeons. They're simply too long, the sewers especially. And you can't do a complete social playthrough, you really need some form of combat ability or you're screwed at the end.
It's tragic, because it was so close to being perfect, it only needed a few more months in development to iron out the last few wrinkles. Really sad.

Best parts?
Deb of Night
Heather Poe
Breadlust
That one dungeon. You know the one.
You have an apartment.
The TV
The TV as a malkavian
Not having to choose between the sisters and VV

Just looked over the list. It's sad that F3 is rated way above F:NV and that Arcanum got so few votes.

Wasn't sure which one to put on the list myself. I liked NV and FO3 equally but for very different reasons. Somehow FO3 left the bigger impression on me, probably because it was the first with that engine, I loved the soundtrack and because the setpieces were a bit more bombastic - and it had the subway system. On the other hand, NV's characters and writing was better, the gameplay was tweaked and expanded for the better and some of the quests offered more choice.

I almost completed it as i was at the taxi with caine (kaine?). i first tried a toreador but even Edward cullen makes this guy look weak, (twilight ! SPIT) the rest of the time i was a Gangrel (?) wolf guy since guns were bad and katana makes great sushi. its a pitty i lost my game Steam want 15 credits and thats steep for me at the moment.

Some of the quests offered more choice? almost every quest(which there are 10x) in F:NV offered choice. Only two quests offered any type of real choice in F3. Bah, don't even get this one started on the ludicrousness that is F3. F:NV was like an unreachable dream coming true. F3 was like a brute with gay lumberjack's gait auditioning for a role of Odette

I did prefer the setting in FO3. Wandering the wasteland seemed to have more in it and was more interesting to wander in. I liked the busted up cityscape compared to the mostly empty desert.

But quest-wise, F:NV wins hands down. And the combat felt a bit tighter. Still weak for a shooter, but decent for an RPG.

F3's setting fell apart moment you stumbled upon yet another settlement with no means of sustaining itself. Bethesda thought a lot about little things, like where to put yet another empty can, but not nearly enough about verisimilitude of the game world.

And then there was that whole "Steel be with you" and "[Intelligence] So you fight the good fight?" crap

They just released Beyond Good and Evil HD for XBL and with it being on so many lists it's kinda tempting.
